Don't go to the dealer on Thursday. If you have the sales docs, and hopefuly your plates and financing....ignore them. Let them chase you if you want. Say nothing more, do nothing more.

Now, you say the finance person is your friend. Well I think he got caught up in trying to put together a good deal for you and wasn't paying enough attention to the little details of leased vehicles. That's his fault. But, it sounds like the Chevy dealership took an unexpected hit from Ford with your car, and they are "putting out the feelers" to see if they can manipulate you into changing your deal. If you choose to go to the meeting, then just be prepared to call their BS. If there is "fine print" in your existing contract, then take it with you and have one of your cousins look it over. Like others said, don't sign anything else until you have it checked. To me it just sounds like the dealership made a mistake and now they are in damage control. Just be careful, and I know the finance person is your friend, but don't trust him. I hope everything works out for you. |

First question, did your lease say you could make modifications to the car?
Second question, did you tell the Chevy dealer that you had modified the car? In your original post you said it had mods, but you didn't say you made it clear to the Chevy dealer that you had. If this in fact violated the contract and you passed it off on the Chevy dealer that may be what's going on. That being said, unless you misrepresented the car or they didn't check until after the deal was concluded, I'm not sure what recourse the dealer has............other than you bringing the car back out of your own kindness.

now i understand you traded in the car and they payed it off for you. but from my understanding dealers do not take a car without looking at it. so if they did not go outside and check the car out open the hood and see the mods then that is on them.
what would have happened if you made the deal with them and they walked out and your rustang was on three spares five colors of paint and sputtering? would be there fault. and now also if you trade in a lease or get one and do mods you keep the stock parts unless you are a 100 percent sure you are going to keep the car, if not you keep the stock parts to turn everything back to stock or return to dealer with trade in, so part of that is your mistake. all i have to say is keep the car locked up or at a friends for a few days till this all blows over, also like others said do not take the car with you, if they ask about it do not reply move on. do not sign anything. if they try to stop you then you just point out you came in to get a new car, had a lease you wanted to trade in and they payed it off and took it so you can get a camaro. you are they buyer and do not know the rules of what a dealer can and can not do. also i never do a lease i think it is stupid unless you plan on paying it off at the end, but you should read your contract. maybe you could not take the car to any other dealer unless it was a ford and trade up to another model. its all up to you either go with your cousins and see whats up or just wait for a call and talk on the phone, just let them know you are to busy right now to make time so talk to you on the phone and see what they say. GOOD LUCK |
