About a minute.. seriously. Makes sense because I thought I came to rest closer to the line than I did. Sh!t, that clip almost makes it look like I actually skidded past the timer backwards..

Kinda why they say always go to the hospital, car stuff will show up days weeks months later, and can haunt you even longer.

Is it worse then a day under the car in the drive way, ya know the next day neck strain?

Now it is a week later. Day after I almost went out and bought a neck brace because any small movement of my neck would just feel like a kebab skewer going into the muscle.

I got the estimate back today: ~$7800 bucks all inclusive.

And that's assuming the driveline survived. This could creep into a $10,000 repair bill that will come wholly out of my pocket.

I think I'm going to be sick.

Well if you going to pay someone else to do the job, its always gonna cost allot of money.

I know, I know.. that's why I don't let anyone else touch it unless I am short tooling and equipment.

Bump for estimate in paper: $7821 and change. 10 bolt appears to have survived bodychecking a wall, end result being either a bent axle shaft, or wheel (still going to need to get the bent one off and swap wheels to test this hypothesis). Took them two days to find that due to the fact that the T/C and low trac indicators kept going nuts when they had the rear off the ground.

Wound up just unhooking the rear and letting it freewheel to test track on the right side. Also the bird's so 'heavy' it exploded a floor jack. :/

for $8000 id tell the neighbors to get a life, and just spend $300 at HF for a portable garage to be out of sight.

Nice, I got one up against my shed. Though myself to make it blend in as it a perm install, I spent $30 and painted it. And wired it for lights.

If I scrap it: $5000 bucks parted out (HOPEFULLY)

Loan balance to pay: $4500.

Net gain after disposal fees (what's left over): Probably 400 bucks.

This is why I'm doing this.

And if you saw the extent of the damage and the tools required to repair it, you'd probably leave it to a body shop too. What's involved is nearly removing the entire right side of the car short of structural support. My aim here is to not 'just get it on the road and home to sit'. My aim is to have my daily driver and main mode of transportation back.

Insurance would probably have covered it if I wasn't at fault.

Being an incident at the track, they WILL drop me like a stone without skipping a heart beat.

I know this for a fact since my last insurance company dropped not only me, but the joint plan my family held their house under due to the house having issues and a brother that didn't know what a speed limit was.

TLDR: Insurance won't help and I can't afford a replacement. So my only viable option aside from leaving the world of personal transportation behind or 5 years or so is to spend the money and fix it.

That is, if any of you want to donate a 38,218 mile 6spd Maple Red Metallic Hurst Trans Am to replace it.

Also, at present I'm paying 129/mo for the car. This will up it to 429/mo. Honestly, no different than finding a low mileage '06 GTO and paying a similar loan.
