Yeah, he's been checking down south for sure. I think that's where he dug up most of the panels. It's the coding on that rear that is tossing him for a loop. Worst comes to worst if he gets back with the estimate tomorrow is that I can dig most of it up at tech anyway and forward it to him.

Well your boned there huh, had to have the fancy options car

has the rear end been taken apart yet?

gear and stuff inside ok, just a bent housing or axle?

Gotta be some parts in there you could salvage or sell.

Why do you think I bought the damn thing?

Rear is still together, however the condition of everything in there is iffy

Body guy hasn't gotten underneath to say what's broke and what's not. Right now I'm thinking the pumpkin just exploded being the weakest link in a GM F body driveline.

I'm not going to part her out anyway, means too much to me and many I've talked to have seen worse come back to show condition. Already located most of everything to get her back together, it's just a matter of doing it in a cost effective manner.

I wasn't saying that, id just salvage anything you can from the parts you will replace.

Though the rear end should be torn down and looked at closer, you may be able to just buy one local and stuff your guts into it.

not gonna be some 1 off rear end. just has better guts then most.

Ah, funny because that's what I was planning if we couldn't find a GU6 equipped for T/C. Just go ahead and see what's shot and whats not, then get a 3.23 rear and refit it for 3.42 duty.

The Traction control and 3.42s were separate options and I actually want to keep my T/C. So if the controls aren't shot and sensors/control servos/magic parts in there to do the rapid lock/unlock/slow the f**k down thing are fine I might be able to take a G80 and go from there. It just depends on what the body guy can find as far as a T/C equipped 3.42 rear first and secure it should it need to be on the bill.

He said today he'd try to get under there to see what's going on but with other things he's got going on that I can personally relate too, the both of us just agreed to just not make it a priority. He's a good family acquaintance for me and my brother (went to school with his sons). He knows how much I love this car and honestly.. I think he loves it too.

Luckily he just got done with another kids Z/28 where he blew out the rear and some other damage. So at least he's got a fresh reference point.

Total novice on that traction controll stuff, when you say rapid lock and unlock does it act like a air locker on a 4x4 that goes from peg leg to posi at will???

If so thats what I want

Like to have it like a trans brake for racing, when in doubt let lose of the button and go bck to one wheel peel. [lots of time I enjoy 1 wheel peel when you can act like a fool in the slick and the rear don't try and walk around. why its been two years n yet to install the posi in the Buick]

No, my G80 is full time posi. I never pegleg. It actually throws it into a limp-leg mode on and off depending on which wheel is spinning slower. That signal allows it to prevent both wheels from staying locked on crap surfaces and causing the car to spin.

With it off, you obviously launch better under full posi. It was killing my times by almost a full second so I shut her down for the last three runs. That's when it progressively got worse on the track.

1st run I did well and cracked 14.5, no real spin or control issues.

2nd run I spun all the way through first and bounced off the limiter. Landed a 15.1 though. Had I known what that indicated, I would have called it. I assumed that at that time I had actually tracked water onto the line from the burnout pool.

3rd run I ate wall backwards.

Not in action, but like 1-2 seconds after the car came to a stop. At that point I remember seeing the EMT unit that passes the camera lighting up and heading my way.

Speaking of which my neck still sucks. Thought it'd only be sore for a few days.. tumble dry anyone?
