I know it seems that car should be a lil faster et wise w/ that trap speed. But hey who knows? It doesn`t seem like not to many are purpose building these cars for drag use. I think we still have a lot more to be seen from these cars, but they will always fight the weight and independent rear. I would think the new stang is going to have an advantage due to weight and solid rear axle setup.
As far as walking a stang down haven`t run into a race w/ a 5.0 but the 4.6`s 10`s and older go down pretty quick if they are NA...Lol.. On a side note my Whipple arrives today!

Trying to figure out what the point of this thread is. Is the OP trying to say the new 5.0 is the first to do a wheelie and almost wipe-out? Or is Ford the first to throw money at a tuner shop to get its Vtec to do overhyped things?

If you look at the unsponsored vids (not done by magazines with ringers, paid tuner shops etc.) of the new 5.0 you'll quickly realize that it is fairly fast, but nothing spectacular. I suppose if you own a Mustang it's spectacular because it's the first stock Mustang to break into the 12s without a blower. Bravo Ford, but the LS1 did that in...1998.

hahaha you guys and your mustang hating, I agree that the OP was trying to stir some shit, but people always bash the stang, when its now a better built quicker stock for stock car than the SS. Everyone has certain things they like about every muscle car, hence why you bought the SS and I got the stang, and others bought the srt or rt, why bash or try to put down the other car? They all have highs and lows, the stang is more cramped inside than either of the other two cars, but is quciker in the 1/4, the camaro looks the meanest and is a deadly force in the racing/street scene but has shitty build quality, especially in the interior, the dodge looks the most retro, and arguably the cleanest looking of the three, but is the heaviest and "slowest" ( iff you call 13.3 slow ) of the three... People buy cars for different reasone...cant we all just get along?

5.0 stang at the ring?

since we know what the SS runs and now there testing the Z 2/8 hopefully they will do some offical hot laps soon at the infamous Ring in Germany.

i was wondering did Ford run the 5.0 stang on this track, did it run it at Vir? Luguna? IF Ford did run it does anyone know the times?

People say how the 5.0 will crush the SS on a track(circuit) but they are really super close. Road and track tested these at willow and 5.0 ran a 1.37.6 and the SS did a 1.37.7.
i was just wondering...

I know the GT500 was tested at VIR.

I don't think that any stang was tested at the ring. Not sure though.

Your the one Camaro hating, you come on a Camaro forum stating the Mustang is better built, will lose to any 5.0 Mustang, and has shitty build quality.

Ford doesn't really do a whole lot of Nurburgring testing, probably because their performance lineup is essentially restricted to the Mustang. Nothing against the Mustang, but when GM goes they usually have a few different cars that they take with them to test during their rental of the track.

I think the new SHO could post a good number, not record breaking but definitely worth the trip. Maybe bring one of the best handling fwd the Focus RS 500 and see how it does against the great time the Cobalt SS got at the ring.

Here's a well done video that just goes to show how well the SHO does against some of its more expensive competition, maybe there waiting for the rumored 400hp+ version. The Ring may also be too bumpy for the sra in the mustang.
