Ok..so maybe I was off, I was wrong.
Behold, the ability to admit to being off base on a topic! I'd rather bow out of an argument with dignity than dig my heels in and never give up. |

* They reengineered an entire dynamometer cell to handle the engine’s projected 7,500 rpm redline; put the first engines into Boss 302R race cars and sent them straight onto the track; and they designed a torture test equivalent to running the Daytona 250 race flat-out more than 175 times – in a row * Close connection with race teams Contrary to normal engine development protocol, the first batch of durability test engines weren’t installed in an engine dyno. Instead, thanks to a request from Ford Racing, they went straight to the track. “Ford Racing had challenged the Boss engine team to give them the first available Boss 302 engines,” explains Harrison. “They came to us in August 2009 and told us they needed engines as soon as possible to build a limited number of Ford Racing Boss 302R cars for the January Daytona race. They got the engines 12 weeks later and the team got five Boss 302R cars prepped for the January race. This gave us a fantastic opportunity to be able to get full-on race experience with the engine so early in the program.” The Boss engines have run reliably all season without a single mechanical failure. Boss 302R cars have also racked up the most laps led so far this season in Grand-Am racing. Using race telemetry, the Boss team has been able to gather on-track data to help optimize engine calibrations, oil pan designs and cooling. In order to engage in virtual racing whenever they needed, the team used the telemetry data to re-create a hot lap at Daytona on the dyno back in Dearborn, allowing further fine-tuning. “Working with Ford Racing has been invaluable,” said Harrison. “They were a wealth of information for setting up torque and power curves for road racing and for identifying areas of concern during track runs that we wouldn’t have considered if we were just building a hot street engine. Every Boss 302 owner will benefit from their contributions to the program.” * Production engine durability testing Despite its racing heritage – and the rigors of track-day testing – the Boss 302 V8 is still a production Ford engine, built alongside the 5.0-liter GT engine at Essex Engine Plant in Ontario, Canada. That means it has to meet or exceed all the standard durability testing every Ford engine is required to complete. http://media.ford.com/article_displa...ticle_id=33066 So from everything I've seen so far, the street motor and the race motor are the same except for pollution controls and tune. I don't have a link, but it's been reported that the race engines dyno over 500hp unrestricted. Take it for what you will. |

Correct and no tune changes...just installed and dynoed...I would assume with the tune they would get some more power, how much not sure.
These new Camaro's and Mustangs respond very nicely to mods, that is for sure

Not bad at all, I picked up 32 RWHP & 38 RWTQ untuned with my Kooks LTs with cats. Didn't waste my time with the tune because the car is getting cammed right now. |

Nice ride, but get the louvers, or shell out for the flat ones that replace the 1/4 window. Here's my car and my sister's. And those wheels grow on you - at first we didn't like them but they were thrown in for free but now we both do.

You guys have a supercharger. We have a supercharger. I have no doubt that these kits are both good kits that will lead to great performance. I do, however, doubt that anyone springing for these kits will be stock. Look at the whole package.
Does a GMPP Camaro beat a Ford Racing Mustang after everything has been installed? ![]() Let's take this even further. Does it matter? You Ford guys over here will come up with an explanation for increased power, but don't forget that your powertrain warranty is shorter than ours for good reason. The build quality of a car can be determined both by how powerful you can make it without breaking and by how long it rides at that level of performance. Testing has led to higher warranty standards at GM because the products are designed to last longer. Of course, you won't agree. That's why you drive Mustangs. They are good cars. I can't fault you for having the good taste to buy a decent American product. I just wonder why so much emphasis is placed on spreading Mustang gospel on a clearly Camaro website. We won't be buying this kit here, so I wonder why so many of you today have chosen to advertise a kit made for our competitors.
