Would you say the same to someone that paid over sticker for a Camaro? Plus the GT500 will be worth a lot more in the future.

Yes, I would. There were multiple dealers on this site selling Camaros for no mark up from the beginning.

Let's be realistic, he's not buying the GT500 as an investment here. If he were, that would be another reason to point out stupidity. New cars are not good investments. If you want to buy a GT500 for an investment, go buy a 67-68 while the market is low and sit on it until the market comes back up.

Besides, it might be worth more because it cost more in the beginning. That's not the right way to look at it though. You want to look at how much value is lost over time. In a year, how much will the GT500 be worth vs. what he paid? Same with the Camaro, which one loses more value?

I know the GT500 when kept properly will demand way more money than the Camaro. Hell at Berrett Jackson one just went for something like 125,000 granted it was a 2007 GT500 KR and that was only a few year's old.

LOL.. With the release of the 5.0, it's to be expected to last as long as the rivalry is there. Chevy upped the Stang last year and now the Stang trumps Chevy. The ball is in Chevy's hands to improve the Camaro and so forth. It is healthy competition and camaraderie.

Yeah, and it gets awfully annoying to someone who doesn't take it seriously...I would have no problem with the back-and-forth bantering, if everyone wasn't so serious about it.

But everyone's got to take everything so personally...Everyone has to be right! Everyone HAS to have the "Best car", even though "best" is PURELY in the eye of the beholder. And this comes from both sides, now....

Like I said....it gets annoying, really fast.
And it only happens in these threads.

They bought it because it was in transformers or they'll argue with cold hard facts about the competition.
Then there is the arguement about how the 5th gen. camaro looks better so it's better then the Mustang automatically regardless of proven numbers.

If you read this thread the guy is being trashed for sharing his buying experience of a new GT500. A few people mention the guy is a flip flopper and others start bashing ford in general. This forum is like I said the laughing stock with no respect to the competition. A few people here actually do respect a fellow Camaro owners choice for a new car though that number is minimal.

Why Do I come here? I like reading about the few true enthusiast here and what they are doing with their cars.

Here Open your eyes and take a look

I'm sure if there was a Corvette6.com populated with the same sort of juveniles you can find at Camaro5.com, they would have been screaming "confirmed!!!" about that too.

Thank you all for the warm welcomes and compliments.
Far, far better reception here than on Camaro5. It's refreshing to be amongst adults that can have an adult conversation as opposed to childish bullcrap.

The die hards over at Camaro5 really are nutswingers. My opinion is doubly pointless because not only did I dare to state that the Mustang has won the 2011 round of the muscle car wars..but I also drive a Challenger which makes it basically worthless in their view.

Their retarded parroting of excuses is rather pathetic. They're "Its heavier because its safer" and "We have the better looking cars" is the same lines the die hard Challenger folks vomit out. I personally let my car speak for me.

As for you that other guy here

I'll tell you what, this is a public forum and just like you I'm free to share my opinion.

Congrats on the order!

Well, you'll excuse me if I really don't give a rat's petutie what other people think of us, let alone accept a couple of quotes as proof of anything from "the muscle car community". And I can absolutely assure you....I don't have blinders on. Those on this site enjoy themselves. We're not all engineers, and most of us are aware of that. My job...OUR job...as moderators, is to keep the site a welcome, and clean place for new and senior members. Outside of that, I don't care what the wind says.

If you don't like it, here -- feel as free to leave as you are to share your...'opinions'.

Anyways, let's get back to our regularly scheduled programming:

I can agree with the statement that this forum is laughed at by other car sites. I've been on several and what you stated rings true. However, I don't mind people that buy the Camaro because it looks cool or it was in Tformers. Those people are what keep the car alive because they probably outumber the true enthusiasts. It's the same with the Mustangs and Challengers and just about every car out there. You think the Mustang would survive without all of those teenage high school graduation or rental car sales? No.

I want to point out that I don't disapprove of the OP buying a GT500. I think the GT500 is a truly awesome car. I just pointed out that he was taken by the dealer.

What I have a problem with is him saying that the people not agreeing with him are doing so out of jealousy. That kind of thinking is absurd and laughable.

I don't think it's wrong at all for some one to buy the car because they think it look's cool, that's one of the reasons most do buy a certain car. You are absolutely correct in saying that these kind of people probably do out number the true enthusiast and yes that's a very good thing in respect to sales. The people who buy the camaro because they saw it in transformers are fine. It's the people who bought the car from seeing it in the movies that are one sided of which bash the competition with no clue about their car that I see the problem with.
