It's the people who bought the car from seeing it in the movies that are one sided of which bash the competition with no clue about their car that I see the problem with.
I agree. Blind loyalty because it's what you own without seeing the big picture.

I'm die hard GM but I also have an appreciation for other cars even though I might not own them. I've owned 8 f-bodies but I love what Ford has done with the new Mustang.

Wow, interesting post. Good luck with the GT500. I know what you are going through - I was/am a Mopar guy my whole life and mostly hang at MOPARTS.COM (since 1999) but after buying my Camaro I went through the same thing there as you are here. So, I joined this site to talk about my Camaro. I've restored countless Mopars over the years and this is my first ever GM product (42 yrs old) - I got/get flamed for it over there so I just talk about my '70 'Cuda there and my Camaro here. I will say that the 5th gen Camaro is beyond exceptional, so much so that it stole a die hard Chrysler guy away from them, unlikely to return. I've been daily driving my Camaro for a little over a year now. Rob

the other option would have been to wait and hope i didn't loose more then 10k at the end of this year when i was planning on selling it anyway.

and the 2k down i put in on signing covered my upside down part; so no interest paid on that. believe me, i knew what i was doing when i walked away from 6 hours at the dealership the first day that i was there. we started at 28k on the camaro, 13k down and 10k markup on the shelby.

3 weeks later when i walked back in, i had them to 33,100 on the camaro, 2k down, and 3k markup. i personally believe in paying a markup in some situations, so in the end; i was the one playing their emotions.
as you are aware, you are dealing with a "depreciating" asset, and you still lost money, regardless of how you 'sugar coat" it!..at least you are happy with the car!..the only way you win in the car game is to buy a "piece of s88t" for very 'short" money, fix it up,and run it until it falls apart!..ANY other way is generally considered financial suicide!

Enjoy the car you made a GREAT choice. When someone offers to make your payments then they can talk. Until then they do sound kind of jealous from where I'm reading.

I love the GT500, but those skinny little stripes look out of place. It needs wider ones imo. If the 2012 Z28 can post same times as the GT500, I would take the Z28. But the Shelby is still very nice.

I think you made a great choice and welcome to the GT500 brotherhood.

I cant believe all this talk about money as if the extra money it takes to buys a GT500 vs SS would put people in the poor house. Nobody seems to have a problem with members spending 8-10k on a installed supercharger package but throw their arms up in discuss at a member spending the same amount on upgrading to a GT500.

I was lucky and didnt have to buy a SS before deciding on the 2011 GT500, but I highly reccomend people get behing the wheel of the new 2011 GT500 PP before you spend any money modding your SS.

hello dark side... 2011 GT500 w/ Track Pack & NAV system in Race Red with White Track Pack Stripes (kinda like that combo...)

----

in the end, with 22k miles on the car and an offer of 33,100 on the table for something i paid 35,835 a year ago only owing 34,400 at the time of trade in... it was a no brainer.

i do miss "scarlet" but i hope in time that she'll end up in a loving owners hands, hopefully as much as my own were.

see ya guys in my rear view! (i kid, i kid!)

Congrats on the new ride. Regardless of what people say, good deal, bad deal, the bottom line is that you are happy with your decision. When you want something bad enough and can afford it I say go for it. You only live once. Best of luck to you.

Not if that is what he wanted to do. It's his money, his choice. Ever hear of supply and demand?

^ I paid MSRP on my Ingot Silver stripe delete w/PP that I ordered from a cool semi local dealer back in Febuary who had two remaining left over 2010's w/ electronics pkg that he was selling for $45k which was 7K off MSRP. He said he had 1 allocation for a 2011 GT500 at MSRP that he was going to be ordering so I went ahead and put in my custom build order without spending a dime and 3 months later I got my very own GT500 built just the way I wanted it. I couldnt be any happier x5

I ordered it that way back in Febury on purpose to avoid constant cleaning (black/red SVT was my 1st choice) and constant neggitive attention from law enforcment, road ragers, and local slow drivers that might get passed.

Same reason why I went from bright Inferno Orange to the darker Kona Blue except for the cleaning part, as both seem to get dirty fast..
