I'm curious to see if the Challengers' prices are slashed after the Camaro comes out again. Not on a company wide level of course, but the dealers will lower the asking prices. The Challenger is wanted now b/c there's nothing new and cool currently to comepete with it.

For the people talking about the lateral Gs. That .99 g thing is the peak G. Peak meaning the most they achieved in a corner. Steady state grip is what you see measured in magazines and such. They drive in a circle measuring how fast they can go before an end of the car breaks loose. It takes a lot more grip for a car to get high steady state grip than to generate a high peak g.

But yeah, this article is very biased. They compared it's handling to a go-kart. In their defense though, they said it was more like a go-kart than the original e-body. So if that's any indication of the car's handling...

Oh, and I'll testify to the gas mileage possible with a Tremec trans. In my car I usually get around 15 mpg in the city. But when I take it really easy, I can get about 17-18 in the city. On the highway it's a sinch to get 25-26mpg.

The new EPA standards for calculating mpg are very strict and are worst case scenario. No joke. That's why it's such a shame that CAFE standards are going up by 40 percent. It's harder to get a good rating.

I stopped by a local Dodge dealership tonight on the way home to ask about the new Challenger. Talked to a very nice salesman who wasn't pushy, just a cool guy which was kind of surprising. They didn't have any 09s yet but he said he'd call me when one came in (SRT8). He said there wouldn't be any markup on these. The 08's had markup because they were limited production and had serial number plaques or something. He also said it was Dodge's way of "testing" the car for a year to work out all the bugs. Makes sense to me, but I feel sorry for the suckers that paid over MSRP to be guinea pigs.

At any rate, the Challenger has my attention as well. The salesman commented on how bad the timing of the release is with the market being so depressed. As much as I'd love a Camaro, I may end up with a Challenger if they make me an offer I can't refuse. I just priced one out on Dodge's site and it came to $43K which I think is too much. One thing that definitely got my attention.....LIFETIME POWER TRAIN WARRANTY for the original owner. To be continued.

you cant walk in off the street and buy any thing better then a srt8. the track pack cars mean you have to be on a racetrack with them since they are not street legal and you have an aggreement with dodge to have them on a track racing competively within a certain amount of time. so its company sponsored racing.

I plan on waiting and seeing on how the camaro turns out first hand, then I'll make my decision... I sure hope it impresses me. Every GM product I have owned hasn't let me down. Plus my GM loving family will dissown me upon purchasing a challenger

chevy and dodge got it right....no replacement for displacement!
I guess you forgot about the ZR1 Corvette huh? Last time I checked it was from Chevrolet and it is one bas ass "supercharged" ride.
