All that stuff is funny as all TV is broadcasted by Satellite.
The cable or other companies just have much larger dishes like back in the day so they can claim to broadcast better service then some can pick up on their tiny roof mount dish.
--------

My only problem with AT&T which I also have with the local Cable company, neither has yet to update the wires in my area to provide hi speed internet.
Its dialup or nothing.
It's true. Cable companies all have huge satellites locally to deliver the signal. A bigger dish is less affected by weather than a small one.

I'd be concerned that 3% of my customers are using 40% of the network, but let's also remember that AT&T is not only 3G users. They also sell old school phones that have less capacity and don't use the network at all. While this statistic is correct, it does not reflect the total number of AT&T users who can use 3G.

I got a call from ATT telling me I need to upgrade our plan to unlimited everything. I hate sales calls so I told them to stop calling me, I signed up for a plan that I wanted. If I want to upgrade I'll do it when I need to. She said my next bill will be 1200.00 and I really better upgrade. She said I could just go back down the next month. I said .

Sooooo, I hop on the computer only to find out she was right. Weeeeeell it didn't take long to decide to go to the unlimited plan for a month. It cost 400.00 per month. (4 lines)

Needless to say, they could have not called me and gave me the opportunity. My normal bill was around 200 allready, I upgraded to on that was 400. So that was an extra 200 dollars paid. to save 1000.00 so this lady called me up and I saved 800.00 instantly. They didn't have to do that. I understand they want to keep customers and it will benefit them in the long run but most companies would have just sent me a bill for the full 1200.00 and THEN told me I should upgrade. ATT has allways made a change retroactive to save me money.

They have my loyalty because they have earned it. Yes they have performance issues but no more than anyone else. They've allways done well with me.

And anyway, dropped calls means you have to push another button. Meh, not a big deal. Doesn't happen often.

Lately we've had problems here at the office that have been irritating but I can make appointments that instantly sync into Bonnies phone and our computers AS I talk on the phone with clients. Also, I can use data while talking on the phone at the same time. As a business owner in my business this is VERY helpful.

Seems like it would be couterproductive to me to participate. So one question.

What would be accomplished by doing this?

I just got the iPhone 2 months ago and love it. But the service is definately weaker than verizon.
I used to tether my motorola Q to my laptop and play TeamFortress 2 with 150 ping. Now that's a wicked fast Internet connection for a phone.

The reason for my statement is this: Many years ago I had AT&T for both work and home use. I live in Oregon and used to travel I-5 daily on my commute to work. Now, I-5 has many cell towers that follow the interstate so there should be no reason for dropped calls. I understand that not every tower is an AT&T tower or perhaps AT&T didn't have any equipment in one tower or another. I get that. But when you're driving down I-5 during off-peak hours and calls drop like rain... there's a problem. I worked with the AT&T folks for months to get a resolution. Bought new phones, installed an external antenna on my car that was hard wired to my hands free kit. Even had my audio guy install a new hands free kit. Still nothing worked. Calls kept dropping. I finally was fed up and tried T-Mobile for a while, which was better but still had issues. Switched to Verizon four years ago and have never had a problem since. I still get dropped calls but only about one or two every couple of months instead of one or two every phone call.

As far as the iPhone thing goes, I seem to recall reading somewhere that Verizon passed on it because of the bandwidth requirements or something like that? I don't remember specifically why but that sticks in my mind for some reason.

Every network is different and the level of service from town to town is different. If you're getting great service from AT&T then that's great.

All i know is my iphone works great. When it comes to the service providers, man it is all the same. Regardless if you are att, verizon, sprint they all have coverage areas and area where they get weaker signals.

All i know is my iphone is my life line now. I would not trade it in for anything but another iphone

AT&T is doing no different then the cable internet provides.

Member when roadrunner had to change the rules as a small handful of customers were hogging up the whole network?

Even our local has done it.

There are actually a lot of people saying that Verizon's new ad campaign might shut them out of the iPhone.

And, I honestly think T-Mobile would get one first. T-Mobile uses the same network standard, just a different frequency for high-speed data, so it'd be cheaper to have one device that could be sold by AT&T and T-Mobile compared to two different devices for AT&T and Verizon. Not only that, but T-Mobile has a very good relationship with Apple internationally.
