AT&T caused an uproar last week when it announced that it was considering fining its customers for "overusing" its "unlimited" service. The network has been plagued with problems, with poor geographic coverage and high dropped call rates in major cities across the U.S. Customers, though, have expressed frustration that the carrier is looking to punish them for its own data network shortcomings.

On Friday, December 18, at noon Pacific time, we will attempt to overwhelm the AT&T data network and bring it to its knees. The goal is to have every iPhone user (or as many as we can) turn on a data intensive app and run that app for one solid hour. Send the message to AT&T that we are sick of their substandard network and sick of their abusive comments. The idea is we’ll create a digital flash mob. We’re calling it in Operation Chokehold. I dont have an iPhone but I am right behind you on this one. What these fat cats dont realise is they are fat becasue of US. We pay them. They owe US not the other way around. im sick and tired of nazi like corps in our society!

If you look up the definition of UNLIMITED it means without bounds or a limit. How can you give someone an UNLIMITED plan (and charge them for it) but then bully them not to use it. I will not bow down to any NAZI!

This is why I don't envy iphone users, and I'm sure there will be droid conversions when their contract is up. I personally will never use AT&T which means Gina can't get an iphone until they become non-exclusive.

Sorry can't help you, ATT is a major contract for me ,and all me employee's have their phones. It's the best cell service I ever had. We have 4 people with I-phones including me and we all love them. I had Sprint for 4 years before moving to ATT and that was by far the worst cell service I ever had.

I'm actually pretty happy with AT&T and endlessly impressed with my iPhone, but I'll be on an app to help to cause. I'm always for putting up more towers to further improve the service.

I don't even hate the charges. I talked myself into a deal.

This is why I'm considering Verizon.

I can't stand Sprint's useless voice network. I have ATT internet and TV right now.. and hate both. It's pathetic.

AT&T is a terrible TV provider. Most cable companies heavily overcharge. Satellite is really your best bet. The signal isn't even that bad during awful weather, and usually a crappy install is the reason for any interference at all. AT&T has done a good job to my standards, and I've been an unhappy T-Mobile and Sprint customer and lived with a guy in college who was an unhappy Verizon customer.

I'm thankful for WIFI hotspots or I would have thrown my iPhone in frustration.

Word to AT&T: flipping from 3G to Edge network off and on is crappy service. I don't care if you say you have more coverage...reality is what it is.

But I do love the iPhone...everything should work like this...thank goodness everyone is starting to copy it. Beware the Google...it's going to take over. Can you say "SKYNET?" (Terminator Movie reference)

Google is like the new Microsoft. I'm actually hesitant to post this on the internet for fear of some secret Google agency picking me up in black Suburbans. They'll trace my IP to my address, which they'll view on Google Maps with a street view to confirm they're at the right place.

My brother would do it (he's a programmer... went to a national programming competition in high school and the hotel there wanted to charge them for internet service so he and a friend chipped in together to get one night of service - he wrote a program that bounced so many packets that it crashed the hotels connection (the entire hotel) in less than 30 seconds. It was down for almost an hour) but there's an extensive approval process for public release apps. Not only would it never get approved, but it definitely wouldn't be approved in time.

I'd also love to join in on this (my experiences to date with AT&T have been nothing but terrible) but I have T-Mobile right now.
