Yes it is the faster car in the 1/4 mile (around a .1 of a second) as far as I could tell, however it is also costs around $84,000. Find a car that is in the CTS-V's price bracket that can beat it.

Yes, the CTS-V ran the Nurburgring faster than the M3, but that factors in acceleration also, and we know the CTS-V is superior in that.
So, I will take some Edmunds numbers to demonstrate my point.

M3 slalom: 71.8 m.p.h
CTS-V slalom: 71.1 m.p.h

M3 60-0:104 ft
CTS-V 60-0:109 ft

M3 Skidpad: .93g
CTS-V Skidpad: .92g

I trust you understand my point.

What you want the M3 to run against the CTS-V in is a tight, technical track that shows no meaning to the overall performance of a car.

Hmm... three other CTS-V's in front of the M3 that "kinda won." And if BMW was so confident, it would had sent professional drivers, or whatever they think they would have needed to in order to prove that the M3 is the best sports sedan in the world.

The CTS-V is a formidable car. You have to factor in cost otherwise you can pick a car that costs two or three times as much like a Porsche Panamera Turbo. It doesn’t matter if the people buying these types of cars could afford the Panamera. What do you think GM could do with the CTS-V with another $80k to play with?

The M3 is a good car, it’s down 130hp on the CTS-V but it’s also I’m guessing about 400lbs lighter which helps especially on a tight track.

I saw a video of Heinrcy and a BMW test driver go head to head and in a CTS-V and a M5 and the laps were almost identical. Now of course BMW will up the power to be on par with the CTS-V and will pull ahead and then GM will probably do the same on its next version. It’s called competition.
