So, this is coming from a guy who currently owns a 2010 2SS/RS and has 4 other GM vehicles.
Bravo Ford! I can't wait to see the road times. If they are getting that kind of times and trap speeds in the 1/4 mile, then obviously the car has worked on its' traction issues. I think it is probably gonna beat the ZL-1 on the road courses as well. Hopefully GM takes this lesson and applies it to the 6th Gen Camaro, because the 5th gen battle is over. |

Oh boy, we all knew this day would come
Now that its here MODs can we coral all these lose pony threads/reviews into one huge Shelby thread? We here in the Camaro/ZL1 camp are not stupid. We knew with the release of the Shelby coming after the ZL1 Ford would come out swinging. I believe Fbody Father had a quote along the lines of no matter what we produce, do you really think we could even count the Mustang out? This is life in the performance jungle and its nothing new. When the GT-R came out and dethroned the 911, do you think Porsche owners started jumping off bridges. When the Bugatti came out and destroyed everything Ferrari or Lambo has or has every created, to you think everyone jumped ship? Of course not, they just kept fighting and improved every year to catch or try and catch the leader. I don't think Al O or anyone at Team Camaro was out of line. Ford declared war on the day the ZL1 released its performance and pricing data. Correct me if I am wrong but World War I started with a assassination during a civil parade. I believe it was called the shot heard across the world. It was a quite day at the Auto Show when Ford dropped the Pearl Harbor like HP Bomb. So what did you want Al. O and Team Camaro to do, not stand up for their baby and say it was nothing compared to the Shelby? I guess before a big game when your the underdog the coach should come out and say Naa we can't beat them, I don't even think we stand a chance, Oh well there is always next year NO the coach comes out and says we are better than them and we just have to prove it. Sometimes you win and sometimes you lose. Sometimes your Flush sometimes your BustNow back to the point of this thread. Here in camp Camaro we already had the answer for the Shelby. The Shelby's best times are equal to our SLP ZL585 (Video Included). That being said should we have used the SLP car for the starting point for the ZL1?? I mean we could have thrown on the aero bits and suspension goodies to complete the package? Now just imagine what the ZL585 could be with the ZL1 upgrades? SLP has always been the source for kicking Pony butt(4th gen), why did we not work with them again? Anyhow, the ZL1 is still a great car and a Legend. Even if it does not get a HP bump it is still the car for me. It is a very complete package in a very attractive wrapper. The only reason I rant is because I will never be happy with a secretaries car beating my Camaro down the strip. Sorry Ford boys had to throw one low blow ![]()

The G5X3 is a fine cam. Not the latest and greatest for a LS3 engine, but makes good HP and sounds great. My guys are wanting me to go with the G6X3 or 4, but I don't need the extra 10 HP it might get me.

Stock for stock Shelby will always win. If we talk about upgrades. The Shelby can be upgraded too. So now it is battle of the deepest pockets

It could be worse. You could have a Boss 302. Death by your own family's hand.

I could get no dealer to give me x-plan on a GT500. if you don't need a back seet Z06>gt500 still. the GT500 I priced with PP and TP was 61,450 or 54,995 without and I could get MSRP I could not get a better deal. I have heard of people getting better but I could not find it. my ZL1 is costing me 55k courtesy delivered to Lassen as I was able to get supplier price. those are all real cost I price them all this year. that is whay kept me in the ZL1. long run it will be cheaper to me so no car payments.

I get what your saying, and I believe that too. I was just making the point of we already had a Camaro preZL1 that was as fast as the current Shelby. If Team Camaro had started the with the platform of the ZL585 and added the aero/suspension bits it would have molested the Shelby. I am just crying over spilled milk, but the point was a ZL1 production version of the ZL585 VS the current Shelby GT500

Yes i honestly think it will do it. But even if it doesnt i say its cause of the Zs much wider tire that made it capable. Im not worried about the one hero run, im more concerned with the dozens of races that are gonna be appearing on youtube of this car vs a z. If the Shelby is the clear winner of most of those races its pretty clear which car is the faster car.
Ive seen trap speeds as low as 118 and as high as 127 with a Z. I think the Shelby will be around the same, maybe even getting a 130 in cooler weather. Should be a great race. |

definitely a beast. Still looks are greater than power to me, and I love the taillights and some of the interior but thats about it for the mustang.
Cant wait to see the pony war continue haha. I think I read that somewhere. |
