might be a cheap way to get 650+RWHP.

You can get z06s for $12k-18k off sticker so the price difference right now isn't there. Once they start discounting the GT500s in a few years then yes.

Overall a great car.
I know you can get about 12k off a ZR1 I haven't seen 1 Z06 go for under 73 brand new. 2011s are bringing up mid 60s at auction.

The GT500 is in Z06 territory now. Chevy is trapped now.

Hate to say it but, if you use Motor Trends data the Shelby kills the 2012 Z06. They got a 3.7 0 to 60 and a 11.9 1/4 mile for the 2012 Z06 And that was for the centennial edition Z06 with extra sticky tires:(

highly impressive though. Ford brought their A game on this one. wonder if Chevy will do a revamp on the ZL1 in the next couple of years to make the competition a little closer..........
By Ford you mean Shelby right?! lol

Actually, M/T trapped a bit higher with the 2006 C6 Z06 with a 11.5 at 127.1 MPG ....http://www.motortrend.com/roadtests/...6/viewall.html

The GT500 and a stock C6 Z06 would be a pretty good driver's race.
I need reasonable air (50 degree's or so), but I've trapped a best of 129.72 MPH at Speedworld with drag radials and a CAI.

The apples to apple price is 56,300 for the ZL1 and 61,500 for the GT500. If you're not going to be hitting the road course and can do without the extra handling bits, then the GT500 is 1300 cheaper than the ZL1.
Ok "Jimmy Dean", lol. I don't really care and not here to argue. I complimented both vehicles. I didn't look up the price of the zl1 with gg tax. Even at 56 its still incredible value for the money. Are you saying its not?? lol...

And I guess if you want a half-assed 500 you can only drive straight for short periods of time when pushing the limits, leave out the performance and track package...

Don't be afraid to give credit where its due. The GT500 is built in the same Dearborn, MI plant the rest of the Mustang line-up is built at. It's good for America and good for Chevy. Ford did good, nothing wrong with that.

Georgia weather is hot and humid this time of year and I believe thats where these runs took place. I'm guessing the GT500 would trap higher in cooler weather?

Ive been saying that for a while now, but people thought i was crazy saying this thing will be faster than a C6Z.

Have you came to reality yet? It should be sinking in by now...

The Ford bodies go to the Shelby American plant in Las Vegas where they remove and replace lots of suspension stuff and modify and test the engines, tune them to the n'th degree.....the employees doing it are Shelby American employees....the cars are titled as Shelbys....so it's a little more than just using the name!!

I still prefer the ZL-1 though.

You are completely wrong. They are built right beside every other mustang on the same line in Flat Rock.

Oh, and ford had everything to do with it under there SVT group.

They just pay Shelby to put his name on it for the most part.
