SANLUIS Rassini Rotors Chosen for C7 Chevrolet Corvette Stingray Z51 Package Brakes

March 8, 2013 at 3:44 pm

PLYMOUTH, Mich., February 27, 2013 – SANLUIS Rassini, a leading automotive supplier of suspension and brake components in North America, was selected by the Chevrolet Corvette engineering team for its unique two-piece rotor design, which offers significant weight savings and extreme performance at high speeds.

Rassini’s Automotive team has produced the industry’s first-ever rotor with a ductile iron hat and gray iron brake plates for the 2014 Chevrolet Corvette Stingray, which makes its debut this summer. The unique combination of ductile and cast iron provides a weight savings of up to 18 percent while also improving the Corvette’s heat management capabilities, giving the sports car reliable and consistent stopping power.

A component of the Corvette Stingray Z51 Performance Package, the Rassini dual-cast braking system affords confident stopping power to the 6.2-liter engine that powers the Stingray from 0 – 60 mph in less than four seconds.

Here are some newest renders of a C7 Corvette ZR1 supercar, complete with hood power bump, carbon fiber splitter, sideskirts, ducktail traunk spoiler, extra ducts/vents in front fascia and the rear wheel fender (ahead of the rear wheels).

Rumors: ZR1 Corvette Stingray C7 could crack 700 HP, while Z06 hit 600 HP

February 19, 2013 at 11:44 am

Motor Trend speculates (without citing any hard source other than “Word is”) that the next Z06 Corvette Stingray C7 will keep the 7.0L engine, but see a power jump from 505 hp to as high as 600, while the ZR1 Corvette Stingray with its V8 (an evolution of the new LT1 V-8 in the base C7) may push 700 hp!

They say that the final numbers for each model will be as follows: If the ZR1 makes 675 hp or so, the Z06 will get 550. If the ZR1 cracks 700 hp, the Z06 will crack 600.

C7 Corvette (non-Z51) spotted in AZ, reportedly testing with Z06 Stingray prototype!

January 22, 2013 at 9:40 pm

There’s been a Torch Red C7 Corvette Stingray sighting (PHOTOS) in Arizona and the spotting was significant for a couple of reasons:

1) This is the first look we get at a non-Z51, base model C7 Corvette, with GT seats, A6 automatic transmission, and silver wheels, and without a rear spoiler.
2) This pre-production Stingray was reportedly spotted with a heavily camouflaged Z06 C7 Stingray which is on its way to testing at the Yuma proving grounds!
