I don't think he was referring to just the show, but that he will be sad to see great cars like the V12 Vantage not be made anymore in the future..

It's really sad because it's mostly true...

I think it goes beyond the V12's..I think the V8's that we know and love will be gone before the decade is up as well.. Those that say no way are the same people that are saying the private insurance companies won't disappear either if there is a free Government option. If the Government punishes you enough for getting a V8 in the form of higher gas guzzler taxes and adds incentives so that you buy small electric vehicles, why would any car company mass produce a car with that type of engine and inefficiencies? And then add on top of that the CAFE standards and minimum combined fuel economy ratings that all cars must have in their size range and without a shadow of a doubt, 6.2 liter V8's that get 16MPG city and 24 Highway will disappear and be replaced by smaller more fuel efficient engines. Perhaps those newer engines go just as fast with more torque, however people like me will miss the rumble of the V8's..

tbo with i think the only thing right now that is keeping the V8 alive are the 40 to 50 somethings that were exposed to the good old days of 69 and so on. Kids that are 13-18 now a days wont care about a v8 when they are 40, by then we will have strait 4s puting out 400+ HP. So once the 40-50 somethings are gone the v8 will also fade away, and the sad thing is that no one can do anything about it

I think the V8's and V12's are going to be replaced by something much, much better.

The world loves speed. So much so that it is unrealistic to think that the next generation of engines (not the eco crap hybrids lexus has) will not have performance variants... our grand kids will wonder why we put up with combustion inefficiency for so long. Can you imagine an engine that would dyno at the wheels nearly what it made at the crank through increased efficiency?

I feel like we are a bunch of old Englishmen talking about how they dont want to see the Canons slip away in favor of some bolder technology.

i don't follow it that much, is there a new technology that could really be a replacement for these engines? i haven't heard of anything.

Send a message via AIM to Mr. Wyndham
I disagree.

Nice filmography, though.
