Corvette + Trans Am = ?

What is Camaro 5's opinion on doing something like this?

+

I've been looking into building a trans am. I want a sort of track car. I started looking around and someone suggested to me "why don't you look into Corvettes?" And so I did. I can buy a Corvette chassis, motor, trans, suspension, etc for about 7k. The wheelbase is about 3.5 inches different. Another large hurdle is that a trans am/ firebird is a sub frame car. The floors would have to be cut up to fit the massive Corvette frame.
What does everyone think?

I know what you mean. The amount of custom fabrications would be extensive.

That Corvette reminds me of the one Hot Rod did I think. Stripped it down to nothing to see how fast they could get it to go. They then added 2 gas powered leafblowers to it for a dual supercharger!! What a hoot, it worked!!

Whenever I see a Corvette without its body, I reimagine it with a pickup bed ... sorta like an 'El Corvetto'

anywho, the idea of yours seems interesting but I'm not sure if it would work due to the differences in wheelbase. I just can't see a convenient way to make the two fit together right.

Anything is possible but you'd have less money, time and frustration in jsut buying a decent TA.

I wouldn't know where to start with that. I'd rather just buy an FRC and track it. Would be pretty cool if you were to make it work though.

There's the frame. I would lengthen it right in the middle 3.5 inches if life was that easy and if things would work out like that.
It will be crazy if I go through with this.
Now fitting them together. That would be interesting..... You need the frame to be a certain width to make it sit in like a channel I would have to notch out of the floor. That channel would have to be like where the door sill is, so that it doesn't mess with floor space.
