Drove a Mustang 5.0 Yesterday

I saw a 5.0 Mustang yesterday at a parking lot... took a look.

The owner had done some mods to it.

I think the car looks nice but Ford did take a few crappy shortcuts in the dash / interior and then the front brakes as Brembo's and then crappy no name calipers on the back ... Ugh! You'd think on a 5.0 GT, they'd go Brembo all the way around...

No it don't, the mustang has a slight advantage in gearing and wieght, the Camaro has a better power curve and brakes. Actual laptimes are pretty close, but the mustang "Feels" better.

Just so u realize the standard GT brakes are actually pretty good... In reality, the Brembos on the GT really aren't nessesary unless tracking..

The time you run is driver vs his car. A friend of mine has a modded 2005 STI... and runs 14's. Why? He can't drive. Just because a 5.0 ran a 14 doesn't mean Jason is lying.

I realize that. That's why I said that THIS is what I have to go off of. Haven't gotten a chance to drive a 5.0 yet, but a 06 GTO vs a 06 Mustang, in terms or riding and performance... no contest. I'd say thats a similar model

My piggy-back PFS Purple unit + other mods had mine at 380rwhp. was lacking in off the line torque tho.... and is one of the reasons I am in my Camaro now.

Oh wow Dan didn't realize you were up in Pollock Pines, I would love to go BUT my clutch is letting go, its starting to see the light. And because I'm an idiot I ran out and bought a ZEX kit and Cam package before axles and a clutch. Can you say priorities..lol

After going to sac last time, (Track in which I grew up racing MX) I told myself I wouldnt go back.. There were a TON of ghetto people. At one point you have a 4th Gen Camaro club showing up to fight with an import Club cause they had some unsettled beef in the south sacramento area. These dudes were some gun toating mofos to say the least.

Will you make the drive to Infineon? I can bring an easy up and chairs, and we can also bring some food and make a day out of it if we can get there by 4. I know I can get about 5-10 of us Camaro5 guys to go also...

I am sure fanboys of a competing car can go and test drive their hated rival and make the same observations against it. They all have their +s and -s. Be happy with what you have and stop hatin'. When you can't appreciate the greatness of a competing car, just proves some insecurities in yours. Own both and cure it.

Hence me setting up a date with a fellow enthusiasts to head to the track, (Guy who owns a gt500). From the beginning of this thread I've said these were my observations only AND I own BOTH cars, lol...

I'll say it again, I like both cars.......

Let's put this to bed already-----

you have a good chance against the Gt500 unless it has slicks of better tires. If it is power-modded, and with traction, forgetaboutit. Traction is its primary enemy. But if it hooks, I am afraid he'll get the best of you more often than...

Seriously, on topic, as mentioned by someone before, real car enthusiasts at car shows, races, tracks, etc. etc. seem to appreciate all cars but the internet "car-fans" just love to hate on the competition.
