not a ford lover but the one car out of there stable I do appreciate is the mustang, that said I would never trade a camaro for a stang, that's just seems unamerican to me. enjoy your stang, there is always the Alpha Camaro to look forward to :o)

I get what your tryng to say, but that's just some funny stuff right there, considering the Mustang is actually built by an American car company and assembled in the USA whereas the Camaro is built by an American car company but built in Canada.

Then I guess we can be pretty certain you will not be getting a Z28 when they hit the showrooms then. I think the dealers will certainly be asking over MSRP for them, especially at the beginning of their production run.

You would be correct.... I would never pay more than MSRP... That's just the dealer giving it to you in the shorts since even at MSRP they are already making a decent profit....

in supermans position, he lost 1k on his trade in with 6200 miles and the car being in near perfect condition.

mine was far from that, she had 22k hard miles put on her with dents dings and scratchs from here to the end of the world.

imo, the $1,500 loss was the best possible situation that could have happened.

i can see your point, paying markup on a car that is in a 120k per year production cycle (like the camaro) is a bit silly.

the gt500 was annouced that day limited to 5500 units for 2011.

in the end, i paid 3k markup on a car that cost 55k sticker, ie 6% of the cost of the car. per month on my financing, that comes out to less then 50 bucks; and for the year i plan on keeping it i'm willing to pay the additional cost.

each to his/her own though...

and if there was any official word of a Z28 and it's release date, i would have held on... but at this point, all we have is a paper stuck to the dash of a car covered in some camo gear with new tires and rims on it.

i think we all know that it's coming but i didn't want to keep living/driving/waiting for something that there is next to nothing to hold on to officially.
THIS very same individual within 12 months will be doing the very same thing the other way around [Z28] will be on the other end of town and here we go again , and that al fine !!!!

They didn't give you $33,100 for your car. They used some of the $3k markup that you paid to over allow for your Camaro. The sales manager didn't want to have a story to tell either. He just said that to get you to buy.

Paying a markup on any car, especially a GT500 that offers slightly better performance than a 2010 that you could have saved THOUSANDS on, is absolutely retarded.

So, you lost $1500 in negative equity that got added back onto the GT500 note and you paid $3000 over sticker. That's an extra $4500 added on to your car note.

Did they give you a bottle of this to help with the screwing they gave you?

COULDN'T HAVE SAID IT BETTER MYSLEF EVEN IF WANTED TO

You see regular mustangs yes, same as you see regular vettes. 90% of people can't tell a z06 from a base vette. Same as a regular mustang vs a gt500. Same as a lt camaro vs a ss camaro. etc etc etc

OP don't let the folks get you down. It's your money to spend and if you are happy that's all that matters. As far as the price, the bottomline, or the "boot" price is all that matters. They could have given you 50k for your trade and sold you the new one for 100k, it all works out the same as 1k for your trade and 51k for the new one.

It's a bada** car and I hope you like it.
There are GT500's everywhere down this way.... Maybe not n Minnesota, and if people can't tell the difference between a GT and GT500, Z06 and Vette.... Then they need to give up trying to keep up with cars

Your 2SS had dings and scratches galore and 15K miles more than mine.. You got a steal with the trade in, definitely a no brainer when it got to that point. However the dealer took a loss on it to be able to tell a story in your case where the dealer in mine actually will break even at the worst and make a small profit at an auction since mine was a 1SS and is in excellent condition. You have though a monster of a muscle car and all the interior amenities are just a bonus. I'm still giving myself some time of driving my 5.0 in order to make a fair comparison between it and the Camaro. When I hit 800 miles or so I will write up the review.

This is where the REAL wholesale value is determined and what they use to determine the offers they make on trades.

Just curious, did you get $500 cashback as listed on the Ford site for Mustangs? Also, anytime the OEM is offering cashback, that means you can ALWAYS get a deal well below MSRP. On cars.com, there are 2010 GT500s with asking prices around $43k and less than 5k miles.... so the depreciation is a real biznatch on these... another clue that you can get less than MSRP on a new one.

I am not trying to rain on your parade... just hopefully giving some good advice on what data to collect before your next trade

Ultimately, all that matters is that you are happy with your new car. Money comes and goes.... memories are forever (or at least until the Alzheimers sets in.) Enjoy your time with the Cobra
I did pay below invoice (x-plan) and on top of that did get the $500 cashback as well for the 5.0 and I didn't even ask for it or knew there was that incentive. I did get a good dealer

Just by looking at your sig photo, it should be easy for anyone to decide which car looks better... That Camaro looks sweet and the Stang... Kinda looks like an older Nissan / Datsun or something to me...

It's all smoke and mirrors. Funny money if you will.

The dealer made you feel good by a perceived good trade in deal. Then he slips it to you on the markup end, which is above sticker. THe sticker price is giving him a pretty generous profit on this Shelby.

Sorry to see you leave the Camaro neighborhood. But, you took the deal. Try to enjoy the Shelby. It is a very nice car.
