Far as movies go DVDfab is on top of any and all DVD and blueray changes and how to "legaly" defeat them so they work in what ever you own by making a new "legal" copy.

sure lots of similar programs but they actualy work on it daily, with each new change, they make a fix and have a patch out right away.

best money every spent

LOL! You're calling me a liar. That's great.

The Main reason OS was implimented for the ps3 was an attempt by Sony to make the PS3 MORE AFFORDABLE for Sony through european and other territories tax breaks... (please note that what you posted was an outright, complete and total LIE.)
Speaking of lies, show me a single credible source, not a post on some forum, that states Sony received tax breaks anywhere in the world by using other os.

You are right, that is a lie. . . on your part You DO have to update to play MANY current bluray movies.

I have seen it myself, on my own ps3, so don't tell me I'm lying.

So you really don't think they could remove or alter the software that enables bluray video playback? I could do it myself with enough time, don't even try to tell me it couldn't EASILY be done by Sony while still maintaining every other function of the ps3. Hell, all they would have to do is remove the codec support and boom, done!

Also in 2009, PS3's with OS were no longer in production when the PS3 slim came to the scene.
They referenced it at e3 as proof of the PS3's hardware power! Not only that, but all the groups that used ps3s for server and computing purposes are hardly using them, or not at all, because when one breaks they won't be fixed by sony without the new firmware being installed and new ones can't be purchased with the old firmware. Look it up.

And No one stripe anything from you, You voluntarly gave up OS system when you voluntarly updated to the next firmware. You own the Box but you don't own PSN or Future software until purchase.
And you continue to ignore the vast difference between adding new applications or replacing old ones with new ones, and completely removing an entire feature of the system. ZOMG the ps3 can now play 3d bluray. That's great. Can it run windows office programs? Can it run multiple programs at once and show multiple, active browser windows? Can I run my streaming trading platforms on it? It could when I walked into bestbuy and purchased it. These are parts of the other os feature, that I and many other people bought the ps3 system to utilize (although not exclusively). Find someone with a ps3 on old enough firmware to run other os and I guarantee you they can't play almost any recent games, many recent bluray, can't use any of the online features, not just PSN (unless jailbroken) it basically becomes a useless machine. Maybe you should check your facts before you go around calling people liars.

That's like saying it's your fault if your car got keyed because of where you parked. And please don't say it's ANY different cause it's VERY similar. It's dickless wastes of life throwing a bitch tantrum on people that didn't do anything to deserve it.

That's cool and I don't blame you for using that because it only effects you. Matter of fact it's pretty cool. That being said you (or I if I decided to use it) couldn't really complain if using it got us in trouble or banned or whatever cause I'm guessing it's considered pirating.

Officials said they will restore online gameplay for both the PlayStation 3 and PSP later this week, in addition to PlayStation Home, friends list and chat functionality.
Once the PlayStation Network is restored online, users will have to change their account passwords before being able to log into the service. The update will require users to change their passwords on the PS3 on which the account was activated, or through e-mail validation.
To thank customers for their patience and loyalty, Sony announced it would offer PlayStation Network users 30 days free membership in the PlayStation Plus service, which provides access to exclusive games and beta trials for games.
Current subscribers to the PlayStation Plus service will receive an additional 30 days for free.

I'm at work so I can't post links.

1. a. Yes saying that OS was a major Reason for the PS3 $599 price point was a bold face, straight up lie, It was the Bluray drive and thats undisputable. Thats like if someone said the PS3 is so expensive because it compatible with FAT32 which would be obsured. Sony initialy tried to classify the PS3 as a Computer.
b. Common mis understanding, You don't need an internet connection for basic bluray playback, but you won't be able to use all the features depending when you bluray player was made. But this was a none issue for the PS3 99.9% of the time, lets assume someone did not update late last year but that would mean their PS3 would have received all bluray updates untill that time, so for the PS3 it really is a non issue. I can't post links at the moment, But I am a member of the Bluray forums so Search Bluray Faq.

2. As of Q3/Q4 2009 Ps3 slims were being made and PS3s with OS (PS3 Phat) were no longer in production. Those with PS3 Phats that did not update can still do all you described.

3. You said altering a system features after release should be illegal. But you fail to realise that BOTH adding and taking away features through firmware updates is altering and thats the truth. You own the box, if you wanted to keep OS then you shoould not have updated, its as simple as that. You own the box but you don't own PSN or future software until purchase. (for the hundreth time). Sony was well in the rights to keep people from stealing Games.

edit: I just realised that I used the wrong wording in my previous post, I mean that you don't need an internet connection for bluray playback. If some one took their PS3 offline and did not update as per the discusion late last year then Bluray playback would still be fine 99.9% of the time. Sorry for that point of mis-understanding.

Guys guys...the only reason PSN was hacked was because Bin Laden was a PS3 player and accidentally used his real address for his account.

The FBI has raided 40 places and 2 guys in the UK are in custody so far. Hopefully they get the 10 yrs they're talking about.

After the arrests Anonymous sent a message saying that Sony is small potatoes and has plans to hack Egypt's gov't. They said that with the problems over there that Egypt is talking about shutting down internet in the country and the hackers are going to hack the gov't to restore internet to the country

They also said that the personal info was obtained just to prove a point and will be disposed of in a safe way or some BS. I'd probably back peddle too if I was facing 10 yrs.

Sony is saying that on top of the PS Plus free for 30 days there will be a free month of the music thing they just added and some free games. That's ll good and well as long as we don't end up footing the bill for the new security via online subscriptions like suckbox. I heard possibly tomorrow to be back online.
