All I know is since I really only played GT5 online (since I beat everything A-Spec 400 times aside from some of the Enduros I don't have time for), I've picked up Dirt 2 again which I was only about 1/3 of the way through. I forgot how awesome that game is. And Netflix still works if you keep hitting cancel to the login screens that pop up so while this blows yes, for me its not so bad anyway.

Gee, removing other os sure had the desired effect huh?

http://www.telegraph.co.uk/technolog...ata-theft.html

Since the removal of other os, PSN security is worse than ever. The hacking and pirating was never a result of other OS it was and is a result of PSN's lackluster server security. Do you guys really think that someone with the capability to hack using other os wouldn't be able to jailbreak their ps3 and do exactly what they were doing before? Now it's just harder to control.

Anyone that has used the psn marketplace or used their credit card on PSN at all, I suggest you call your credit card company and either cancel that card or have them watch for unusual activity.

From what I'm hearing now it is going to be possibly weeks. Amazon went down with Sony but was up in 3 days. ALL credit card info is in the hands of whoever is doing this and they can access everything from your card number to past purchases etc.. There are 1800 numbers set up if you notice any activity on your card.

Supposedly Sony is now considering making PSN a paid subscription like suckbox. THIS led me to think for a second that Sony orchestrated the whole thing as mentioned above but there are a few things that don't go with that.

1) Do you think Amazon would say "sure take down our site for a few days so you can make yourselves look like heroes and then charge for your online service without as much complaint"?!!

2) Do you really think Sony is about to try to mess with the credit card info and use it? If that is the case then something WAY scarier then and PSN bull is. If a major JAPANESE corporation is about to attempt to milk all those cards then the world is ending (or atleast America). I DO NOT believe this be the case so I'm not about to buy camping supplies like it's Y2K.

All I know is I hope these hackers go to "pound thee in the ass" prison and get gang raped because of their feminine dork hands and general weakness as real men. The fact that the credit card shit is in play just means FEDERAL whether they actually use the cards or not. They hacked the info which should be enough to prosecute federally (specially such grand scale worldwide stuff) and I hope the only button they ever tap at for the rest of their lives is Bubba's "special spot" located somewhere deep in his colon.

What does the "live topic" thing mean in your post? Just because it's actively occurring?

I wish only the most violent and brutal things imaginable on the limp wristed tech fags that executed this.

It was annoying to be without PSN but whatever. It was extremely gay and childish when they started thinking they were some form of dork revolution and working in anyone's interest but their own.

Now it's serious criminal shit even if it is the most homosexual from of crime around - Cyber.

Funny how a few days ago they were standing for the gamer's rights and "for the people" and now they are screwing those people over. What happened to Viva la resistance and all that fake crap?

I have more respect for a mugger then a ***** behind a computer monitor staining his keys with cheeto dust and downing MT dew.

I tried to keep an open mind in the beginning and openly invited ANY good reason for the attack. I even supported the idea of "modded only" rooms being made available for people to mess around in with hacks and gave them enough credit that they could start their own consoles. I regret even giving an ounce of respect to their capabilities cause at the end of the day they're just mugger's without the balls to do it in person. Being proud of your "hack skills" when used to screw others is like being proud of telling your parents someone wants to fight you like a little bitch

PSN's security is a joke. That's the real problem here. There are hackers on XBL and everywhere else, but I've never seen so many problems as on PSN. Sony is responsible for keeping that info safe, keeping servers up and running, and maintaining a secure network. So far, they have done none of that.

While I agree that obviously there must be something wrong for this to have gone down I fail to see how that excuses anything the hackers have done .

You would think that Amazon would have some serious security yet their site was down because of this BS too.

Everyone get this email?

Quote:
===================================

PlayStation(R)Network

===================================

Valued PlayStation(R)Network/Qriocity Customer:

We have discovered that between April 17 and April 19, 2011,
certain PlayStation Network and Qriocity service user account
information was compromised in connection with an illegal and
unauthorized intrusion into our network. In response to this
intrusion, we have:

1) Temporarily turned off PlayStation Network and Qriocity services;

2) Engaged an outside, recognized security firm to conduct a full
and complete investigation into what happened; and

3) Quickly taken steps to enhance security and strengthen our
network infrastructure by rebuilding our system to provide you
with greater protection of your personal information.

We greatly appreciate your patience, understanding and goodwill
as we do whatever it takes to resolve these issues as quickly and
efficiently as practicable.

Although we are still investigating the details of this incident,
we believe that an unauthorized person has obtained the following
information that you provided: name, address (city, state, zip), country,
email address, birthdate, PlayStation Network/Qriocity password and login,
and handle/PSN online ID. It is also possible that your profile data,
including purchase history and billing address (city, state, zip),
and your PlayStation Network/Qriocity password security answers may
have been obtained. If you have authorized a sub-account for your
dependent, the same data with respect to your dependent may have
been obtained. While there is no evidence at this time that credit
card data was taken, we cannot rule out the possibility. If you have
provided your credit card data through PlayStation Network or Qriocity,
out of an abundance of caution we are advising you that your credit
card number (excluding security code) and expiration date may have
been obtained.

For your security, we encourage you to be especially aware of email,
telephone and postal mail scams that ask for personal or sensitive
information. Sony will not contact you in any way, including by email,
asking for your credit card number, social security number or other
personally identifiable information. If you are asked for this information,
you can be confident Sony is not the entity asking. When the PlayStation
Network and Qriocity services are fully restored, we strongly recommend that
you log on and change your password. Additionally, if you use your PlayStation
Network or Qriocity user name or password for other unrelated services or
accounts, we strongly recommend that you change them as well.

To protect against possible identity theft or other financial loss, we
encourage you to remain vigilant, to review your account statements and
to monitor your credit reports. We are providing the following information
for those who wish to consider it:
- U.S. residents are entitled under U.S. law to one free credit report annually
from each of the three major credit bureaus. To order your free credit report,
visit www.annualcreditreport.com or call toll-free (877) 322-8228.

- We have also provided names and contact information for the three major U.S.
credit bureaus below. At no charge, U.S. residents can have these credit bureaus
place a "fraud alert" on your file that alerts creditors to take additional steps
to verify your identity prior to granting credit in your name. This service can
make it more difficult for someone to get credit in your name. Note, however,
that because it tells creditors to follow certain procedures to protect you,
it also may delay your ability to obtain credit while the agency verifies your
identity. As soon as one credit bureau confirms your fraud alert, the others
are notified to place fraud alerts on your file. Should you wish to place a
fraud alert, or should you have any questions regarding your credit report,
please contact any one of the agencies listed below:

Experian: 888-397-3742; www.experian.com; P.O. Box 9532, Allen, TX 75013
Equifax: 800-525-6285; www.equifax.com; P.O. Box 740241, Atlanta, GA 30374-0241
TransUnion: 800-680-7289; www.transunion.com; Fraud Victim Assistance Division,
P.O. Box 6790, Fullerton, CA 92834-6790

- You may wish to visit the website of the U.S. Federal Trade Commission at
www.consumer.gov/idtheft or reach the FTC at 1-877-382-4357 or 600 Pennsylvania
Avenue, NW, Washington, DC 20580 for further information about how to protect
yourself from identity theft. Your state Attorney General may also have advice
on preventing identity theft, and you should report instances of known or
suspected identity theft to law enforcement, your State Attorney General,
and the FTC. For North Carolina residents, the Attorney General can be
contacted at 9001 Mail Service Center, Raleigh, NC 27699-9001; telephone
(877) 566-7226; or www.ncdoj.gov. For Maryland residents, the Attorney
General can be contacted at 200 St. Paul Place, 16th Floor, Baltimore, MD 21202;
telephone: (888) 743-0023; or www.oag.state.md.us.

We thank you for your patience as we complete our investigation of this
incident, and we regret any inconvenience. Our teams are working around the
clock on this, and services will be restored as soon as possible. Sony takes
information protection very seriously and will continue to work to ensure that
additional measures are taken to protect personally identifiable information.
Providing quality and secure entertainment services to our customers is
our utmost priority. Please contact us at 1-800-345-7669 should you have any
additional questions.

Sincerely,

Sony Computer Entertainment and Sony Network Entertainment
Great

It doesn't excuse it at all. I'm just getting sick of the rampant hacking on PSN. It has been going on for months now. Server down all the time, accounts getting wiped (including mine), now all this private info has been stolen. . . Obviously there is a serious problem that Sony hasn't fixed and I'm just as annoyed with them as I am with the hackers that continue to succeed in breaking their security. There will always be hackers on any system, but Sony can't seem to handle it at all. I place blame on Sony as well as the hackers.

Also this is SONY, suppose to be a giant corp withthe best of the best and board script kiddies can take them down at will.

SONY needs to just deal with it and accept its all their fault.

They left doors open, the hackers just tried ever knob until one turned.

Thankfully I only use PSN cards and not my CC info. I have used CC with Amazon, but I usually watch my credit cards like a hawk and only use 1 right now.

Still these POS hackers need to get caught and dealt punishment!
