[QUOTE=SummitWhiteLS;2140442]Everything balances out C5 guys.
Back in the day I bought and raced nothing but new Stangs. GT's, LX 5.0's, even a Cobra. Everyone knew me as "The Mustang Guy". And then 2 months ago, I saw this at a dealer ... ![]() The styling blew me away. I didn't want a Summer only SS car, but I couldn't deal with a low hp v6 either. What? The v6 has over 300hp? So I brought her home ... Congrats I get reminded, every time I even think about looking at another car

no problem... never took the SS to the track (i doubt i will be with the gt500 either) but i do drive with the intent to use these cars as they were meant to be used. performance: pretty clear distinction. the shelby will lay rubber happily in first, second and third (probably a chirp in 4th if you really want it to). pulling from a stop you have to be careful how much you lay into it cause you'll be spinning from here till the horizon if your lazy about your throttle input. same goes from 1st to 2nd, you'll put down 50ft of rubber if you really lay into it doing 60mph (oddly fun). so in general, it requires alot more attention when driving. once you've got it within reasonable limits, it's blisteringly fast; the goodyears on the trackpack do help a good deal (though they dont feel as sticky as the p-zero's) ride: the two ride very similar to one another on regular freeway cruising. you'll feel bumps more directly through your seat due to the SRA but when your riding on smooth ground it feels more at ease then the camaro. i'd guess to say this has alot to do with the tighter suspension on the shelby, and could no doubt be reached with pfadt (sp?) upgrades. handling: the biggest difference here is the electronic steering assistance. the hydro system in the camaro has just the slightest lag in it (expected), you dont have this in the shelby. the steering is taught and percise; slight movements are instantly transfered and felt through the steering onto the ground. the weight ballance feels very similar to me, the 2010 shelby suffered from alot of nose-heaviness that i dont notice with the 2011 even with the battery sitting up front. oversteer is def there, as it will always be; but all in all the responsivenes of the steering wheel feels great and makes a difference if you cherish road connection. hardly, i'm just messing with him... ;-) Last edited by bolteon593; 07-25-2010 at 11:07 AM. |

Hey, that is an AWESOME looking ride!! I love the Mustangs look, especially the GT500. You see "run of the mill" Mustangs all over, they are a "dime a dozen", however, you don't see GT500 all that much. I just saw one last month, white with blue stripes.
Bottom line, if you are happy with the deal and the car, then that's all that matters. If I could have gotten a similiar deal, I'd have a GT500 in my driveway too! It's all what you're happy with. I almost bought a Camaro Pace car last month, we had hammered out the deal for a week, they almost came to the numbers that I wanted so I agreed to take it....they already took my car away, I'm signing the papers and with 5 min to go, then the salesperson walks in and says, "they offered you more than they intended on your tradein. The numbers we gave you were for yesterday, today these are the new numbers." I could not get out of that dealership quick enuf. It wasn't that the difference was not affordable, it was the principle of the thing. I had agreed to some numbers they gave me, then the changed it not thinking I would pull out. I did. And as of now, almost 8 weeks later, that Pace car is still there, still for sale with even more miles on it. They had given me a good trade in price on my 1LT Camaro, but I was still paying them $15,000 more for the pace car...once they change the numbers I was NOT happy with the deal and walked out. ...so looks like I'll be keeping my paid off 1LT for awhile! Looking around for a good 2011 2SS Rally Yellow with black stripes for a good price....but if I could have gotten a similiar deal as you, I would have jumped on it too! ![]() As long as you are happy, don't give a hoot about what anybody else thinks. |

I then bought a basket case of a 68 Camaro and even though it had many problems it never let me down when I had to rely on it, it was easy to work on and understand and cheaper than a Ford, since then I have been an avid fan of Chevies and GM, ya I have had a few problems with the chevy but nothing major, all cars have there problems.

in comparison, i'd say the camaro is up to 85% refinement compared to the mustang which has been in production for 6.5 years longer under the near same platform/exterior/interior. that's an amazing feat, a very large part of the sucess can be assigned to you and the rest of the team over there putting together the cars. so cheers to that. i have a stern hunch that in 2012, chevy will be overtaking that number... gee i wonder what might interst me then

LOL I broke plenty of 7.5" rear diff's (until Ford went to the 8.8" in 1986) and as many Borg Warner T5 trannies as well. |

The GT500 is indeed a sick ride, menacing look and great performance (for the cost of course). Alway been a fan of both cars throughout the years however my family would have disowned me if i bought and drove a Mustang. ;-) Lucky for me, GM got the 5th gen right and i don't have to be in that situation. I test drove both the mustangs and camaro's and for me, the camaro is a better car.

I can't believe people are busting the OP's chops over trading in a car, and getting what he wants, with his OWN MONEY.
If the OP was on welfare and buying 26" rims, or some young guy in his 20's with a family, who can't really afford a Camaro, the same people would probably be saying. "Good for you. Do what makes you happy. Don't let anyone tell you otherwise." |

I will say the GT500 has an awesome look from the front, but I wouldn't trade my Camaro for it. If I were gonna trade mine..... Maybe a good used Z06.... New Grand Sport???.... Same price range, WAY more performance, and you won't see one on every street corner!
