The Renault Mégane R26R had a factory cage and harnesses. I think the windows were plastic, too, but I don't recall for certain. Not available in the USA, though.

I'm confused about the whole concept that they made a car capable of 9s but the buyer can't even race it at a track because it doesn't have the proper safety gear necessary. So what good is the 9.65 when it'll never run being banned from the track and all... Just for d*** measuring I suppose?
I get your point, but bragging rights sell. Knowing that it's capable of that is just fine as many of them may not ever see the track. And as they're only making 3k of them this year in the US market and prices have still yet to be announced, the guys buying them probably wouldn't have a hard time getting them set up to be NHRA legal.

I don't know if the 4k weight was an engineering part that they deliberately did, but I'd like to think they could have shaved 500 off of that or that it's possible albeit maybe not street legal.

Beast of a car but sales will be harder as a two seater ONLY car. At least with the ZL1, Z/28 or Hellcat you have a four seater...
I caught most of the live stream before falling asleep but i could have sworn they mentioned the option for rear seats for just $1.00. Seeing as how anyone buying this car firsthand will be custom ordering it, i think the potential lack of rear seats is a mute point.

Do you attempt 9 second 1/4 mile passes on your street? Dodge deserves credit for building such a focused car. One can make a strong argument that this car has no business being on the street. 800 HP with a soft front suspension for weight transfer.

The Demon and it's image of billions of music hits or whatever, are fine for Dodge. They are definitely out there on their own....
The three car in this segment have different personalities for different tastes. If I think of each as a woman...

BEST COMMENT EVER!!! Just because I married the Camaro doesn't mean it would not be fun to date the Dodge. Ford.....well....I am sure there are some "guys" who find that attractive. Just don't look for a bathroom in North Carolina.

Lucky for you the ZL1 is slow enough to be legal.
Your statement is false. You can be denied the right to run on an NHRA sanctioned track.

Route66 Speedway in Joliet will certainly be aware. They check helmet class and look for even DS loops on basic street cars. They're pretty anal about rules there. Unlikely you'd even make it through tech.

Byron and GLD in Midwest will depend on who is in tech. You'll get one pass if you're lucky and you'll be benched.

This is still a daily driver ford/gm response will only fuel horsepower wars even more even if they don't touch 800 but come close. To be honest if you purchase the passenger and back seat for $1each and add 3 people into the car may still be faster than a 2 seat Z06 for 110k+.

The interiors of the hellcats with sepia leather and the awesome performance pages is pretty nice for a car under 10sec. and under presumably 90k! Just imagine a ZL1 with 760horsepower ouch...
I am sure that is coming too, if not more. A pulley here, a tune there... GM can pull it off no problem.

I said the fastest COPO model is 1 second faster than the Demon so I am not stating the Demon is faster. What I am stating is that it is faster than the entry level COPO (6.2L), equal to the mid level COPO (7.0l), and a second slower than the top end COPO. However, the COPO has to be trailered to the strip, you or I will never be able to own one as they only make 69 a year, and does not have the option to throw in a passenger and rear seat (for $1), run on pump gas OR race fuel (with the flip of a switch), or allow you to take it to the local cruise in on Friday night.

Make no mistake, I am a Chevy guy but I can concede when another manufacturer OWNS a specific performance market and the Demon pretty much just ripped that out of everyone's hand, including TESLA for 0-60. Imagine what Dodge could have delivered if it went the COPO route? Low 8's? High 7's? The fact that they can run mid 9's in a car the passes emissions and required safety elements AND will build 3000 of them simply says to me that there is a new sheriff in town for the strip and that the COPO's approach to the market has been shown to be antiquated.
