When they add direct injection, that will be an easy 40+ hp which would take it up to 475-485 hp. Good enough to finally keep up with the LT1. I like the current S550 Mustang, best looking one since the '69-'70 models IMO.

The ls3 was 430 hp and only went to 455 after DI with the lt1. 25 hp gain.

They are doing a healthy bump in compression as well. I'm guessing it will be 460 ish. 475 tops.

475 and it might just edge us out with the 10 speed I would guess. We will see.

No way GM will let the mustang have more hp than the corvette. And so it begins again. The beautiful saga of the hp Wars

Poor Mustang Fans

TBH I really liked the '15-'17 Mustang body style, but man they destroyed a good looking pony car.

I don't have high hopes for the aesthetics of the upcoming GT500 unless it uses the current GT350R's.

We have to stop agreeing on these things so much. 460 sounds about right. It still looks God aweful though.

You guys are forgetting about torque...right now the Mustang is only at 400, even the GT350 is at 429, while the SS is 455. I doubt the GT will get a 55 or more of a bump in tq. Torque is equally important as horsepower in many ways, but so many choose to ignore it...at the very least it makes the car more fun and responsive in normal driving which is what people do 99% of the time.

Plus, even though the GT350 is more of a track car, do you think they are going to let a less expensive, lower powered car be quicker than their halo car in a straight line? Not sure how they are gonna work that...

With that said, the biggest thing is no matter what they do the handling won't even come close, even with this new "PP2" package. As the regular GT350 is pretty much on an equal plateau when compared to an SS 1LE (when an SS 1LE's direct competitor is a GT PP, or forth coming GT PP2, not a GT350). Ford obviously can't make the GT PP2 too close to their halo track car, and unless the GT PP2 at LEAST matched a GT350 (which Ford can't do unless they want lots of pissed GT350 customers lol), it won't compete with a SS 1LE, it may just put it on the same level as a regular SS...

But, the bottom line is just LOOK at that thing, it's hideous. Whomever at Ford okayed this refresh should be fired lol...
