Rabbits really do die for seemingly no reason at all. My family raises rabbits for meat and rabbits to rent to photography studios for easter pics. It is not unusual to find them dead for apparently no reason at all.

Bury the rabbit for your daughter, then get her a puppy.

Causes of seizures/death in rabbits include heat stroke (rabbits are very intolerant to hot temperatures and don't thermoregulate well), encephalitozoonosis (infectious disease), pregnancy toxemia (I'm guessing you would have noticed the pregnancy part, at least), low blood oxygen levels (caused by some types of infections, such as pneumonia), metastatic cancer, kidney diease, or elcetrolyte imbalances (caused by kidney disease, nutritional deficiency, or lead toxicity).

In any event, there was probably not much that could have been done for the little guy. Rabbits are prey animals, and by design, they often tend to mask their symptoms until the condition is quite advanced.

I'm sorry that your daughter had to go through that. Let me know if there's anything else that I can answer for you or if there is something that I can do to make the situaution easier for daughter. :(

Sorry if this is old information...I admit that I did not thoroughly read all 4 pages of the thread

Outed as a veterinarian...

I read the title and thought, "Oh NO! she's just a kid! Poor PQ, that's gotta break his heart." Then I read the thread and realized you were talking about a PET rabbit actually dying... Guess I'm just old LOL
