Like I said 4140 should be good for a 10mm. I need a 4150 frame and slide for the .460 rowland. The .460 is like shooting a 44 magnum in .46 caliber. The 10mm is basically a little hotter .40 kind of like mixing a .357 load into a 40 caliber. I think the pressures for a 10mm and 45 are close to the same. That is why the concern of a 10mm with over penetration. Smaller grain bullet with higher fps.

I use Federal Hydro shock +P in my springfield mod 2 .45 for carry gun.
Here is that round in. 45: ____________________Grain FT LBs Velocity 45 ACP +P Hydra_Shok 185 524 1130 10mm Hyd-Shok 180 424 1030 This is just comparing this factory load range between calibers. If you reload I believe you can load 10mm to a higher pressure. Although for factory loads they are really close. Main difference is the smaller caliber 10mm vs .45 so it will penetrate deeper for hunting. I had a very close friend of mine do ballistics testing for the government with 9mm, 10mm, .40, .357 sig, and .45. He will not own anything less than a .45 acp for carry purposes. Personal opinion and test results weigh into this decision as well. |

10mm max pressure is 33k psi, while .45 acp is 21k psi. That's a major increase in pressure.

That is the same thing I was trying to get at. Just explained a different longer version. lol Basically if you are buying factory ammo 4140 is fine and very close to .45 ammo. If you are reloading most do not load to max pressure either.

I was not sure the pressure from the 10mm reload. Sounds like you have done more research going that conversion. I know the .460 Rowland conversion has a max pressure of 40k psi. This is why the 4150 is needed.
They are using glocks and springfields for these conversion too now. That might be the way I go as with my springfields I will get 13 rounds rather than 7 or 8 in a single stack .45. I have big hands so the double stacks fit my hands better. Although I love 1911's they are like Saigas. Can dump alot of money into them to get right and other guns run better out of the box from the factory. Although they look really nice! I also happen to have a friend here in Saint Augustine that builds professional 3 gun champion .45's. Almost too good of an option and why I had my last .45 custom built. I live in California so I'm stuck to 10 rounds. I like the 1911 for that capacity.

It really depends on what final state its in. When manufactured properly, they can be stronger than forged parts.

The high pressures happen in the chamber of the barrel, make sure to get a good one.
Anyone loading to max SAAMI specs usually isn't around too long or missing a few parts. |

What do you guys think of the Glock 19 for a concealed carry here in TX?
Can anyone recommend me a good holster / kit to carry it? I wear fitted jeans and fitted t-shirts, nothing baggy, nothing tight... just clothes that fit. |

Not much of a Glock fan to be honest.
I usually went with a paddle holster, but I'm finding my new Uncle Mike's inside the waistband to be much easier to conceal. |

I would be thinking about a Sig 229 instead of a G19, with a Milt Sparks IWB holster, or a clone. |
