Anyone here own an AR pistol?
I'm considering an 8 inch Blackout and curious how the pistol AR handles

Where do you get an 80% frame for a 1911? I'm very intrigued.

As a pistol, they're difficult to aim, use a spray and pray technique. They also tend to have gas issues since the tube is so short.

As a SBR they're beautiful if you can keep it running.

I got it from Tactical Machining. They don't stay in stock long.

You can also get a pistol brace and hold it against your cheek. I've also heard of a technicality, if you place the brace against your chest, it's not considered shouldering it.

Personally I feel it's a fad. They tried the same thing with the M1 carbine, more or less, the Enforcer carbine. It was a pistol in essence. Kind of a useless pistol.

Not a fad for those who physically can't shoot rifles though.

I've been wanting a PLR-16. As cheapish Kel Tec... it would do fine for it's intended purpose.

Disabled combat Veterans maybe?

https://www.sigsauer.com/upFiles/abo...20MR-Final.pdf

As per SIG SAUER:

EXETER, N.H. ( April 30, 2013 ) —SIG SAUER ® introduces the SB15 Pistol Stabilizing Brace, a shooter’s aid that is designed to improve the single-handed shooting performance of buffer tube equipped pistols.

This veteran -designed and U.S. -manufactured accessory enhances accuracy and reduces felt recoil when using an AR-style pistol.

The concept for the Pistol Stabilizing Brace was born from a trip to the range with a disabled veteran, who found it challenging to use an AR pistol one-handed. As the designer, an Army veteran himself, tested various designs, he found that the SB15 enhanced the accuracy and control for all shooters, regardless of physical ability.

They remind me of the rifle like pistols ...... somthing like a revolver with a 24" barrel. I think the Joker had one in the batman movie.

That's all well and good. I don't understand why "disabled combat veteran" is a requirement though; what we have here is a disabled veteran who had a problem shooting an AR pistol one handed. The ability to do it is not my question.

The question is why is the AR pistol concept advantageous for a disabled person, not how a disabled person might shoot an AR pistol.

I've giving some thought to sbr, but I frequently cross state lines. SBR is legal in my states, but I think NFA requires paperwork each time it leaves the state. As for gas issues, it's a valid point, but I expect the issue is the same in both configurations for the same barrel length of ~8 inches.

I'd like to shoot one and see how it goes. Never thought of a cheek weld possibility. That certainly would steady things.
I hear shouldering is an offense. But it's ok if you cant hold it safely

That's my first impression too. It would help to fire one and see for myself. I could take off my stock, but the 16 inch barrel and muzzle device is not balanced well enough to shoot one handed.

I've considered this too. Nice that it doesnt have a tube and looks more like a pistol. 223 is good, but hoping to stick with 300 blackout for now.

Thanks everyone for your input.

Weight. Have you ever tried to single hand fire an AR-15 accurately?
