It's pretty cool if you track cars, but the Z28 is a better deal right now. You can get a fully loaded Z28 for the price of a base GT350R, assuming you can even get the car for MSRP.
The GT350 is a base Mustang with a different engine, for twice as much money. To get goodies that are standard on every other trim, plus the performance suspension etc. that you would really want, the car will cost you $65k. |

I assume the GT350 will sell well as there is no other hi-po FoMoCo product to oblige Ford buyers wanting more than a 435hp GT. The R version will sell FAR less. Read the Mustang forums - no one wants to deal with CF wheels, A/C, seat delete except hard core track enthusiasts. Quote:
![]() I'm shocked we still haven't seen weight, final power figures or performance results yet. Ford dragging its feet. Must still be turning slower lap times than the Z/28

Last I checked, that's still considerably less than the MSRP of the z/28. And that car is a track monster, but on an obsolete platform. |

Lets no pretend the gt350 wont be a killer car/killer deal.
I love it. Its sinister in full black. Cant wait to see what GM will do if this thing out runs the z28(which it should considering how long they took to build it) I doubt it will be as impressive as the dinosaur zeta-platform-odds-defying monster the Z is though. Imagine what GM can do with the alpha platform then. Good times for us car guys:-) |

Not happening. But the GT350 with track pack for around 57K might be able to put the Z/28 in its place. Maybe? That I can see. The GT350R? Well...we should fully expect it to be faster than the Z/28. It is impressive that it should also do it for over 10K less (when comparing MSRP)

It's never been a question of what each car company CAN do, it's a matter of what are they WILLING to do.

No way that FPC engine will outrun the LS7, in a straight line. No way.

Hopefully, this encourages GM to release a Gen 6 Camaro Z28.

I probably shouldn't have even comment in here, because I don't really see the value in either car, because I don't track my cars. To me, $50k for a stripper model with a bigger engine is a terrible value. If the suspension/brakes/etc. that actually make this car shine were included, then it would be quite special. |

Here's a fun little graphic for the different "versions" of the 350.
I'd imagine the second "R" on the last one is merely a typo. (Thanks to crysalis_01) __________________ |

I want to see some performance numbers on the GT350, but it certainly seems priced to sell...even in R form. |
