From the updated article: "In a statement, department officials said that the Challenger driver’s bond and impound fees would also be reimbursed."

Sweet ending to a real nail- biter! I don't mean to beat a dead horse, but Mr. Sarge, you are a hero.

I dont know either of the Challengers in your dash cam video, but I felt so bad for the wrongfully arrested guy that I wanted to see what happened and for the real justice to be served.

There's some really cool people on this thread who all really contributed to exonerating an innocent stranger. Yall have helped restore a lot of faith in humanity, especially you Mr Sarge.

Because if you hadn't put pressure on the situation and gotten the media behind you. I don't think that officer would have ever admitted his story was wrong. He def only seemed to be sorry he got caught for doing the wrong thing.

Admittedly, confusing the challengers could be an honest mistake at such high speeds. But their refusal to look at your key evidence is quite scary in these times. So thank God for you, your dash cam, and you being relentless for justice.

Kudos to you and the Camaro5 community! Looking forward to the official 2016 model year Camaro unveil. I'm a big fan of American muscle in general
Thanks, just glad I could help clear his name.

Appreciate it Scalded Dog. I'm no hero, just a fellow citizen trying to make things right where they should be.

As far as dash cams or memory cards, whenever you give or have something taken, you get a property receipt from the police. Ask for one if they don't volunteer it. Every cop in the U.S. has a file of paperwork in the trunk, including blank property receipts.

As far as the officer claiming it was the same license tag #, from first view to arrest, it is standard police procedure EVERYWHERE to call or query the tag before you stop or chase the car. So the officer either did, or did not, call it in at the beginning. If he did, then the innocent guys tag wont match. If he didn't call it in, then it would be investigated as to "why he claims it matches". Sometimes only partial or NO tag is called in, due to the distance or the car tag being obscured or missing.

I see some of my prior posts have gone away. If the mods don't want comments on accurate police procedure, they should just tell me.

I saw it late last night and his info popped up in the records. And then about 25 minutes later it just disappeared. Seemed a little suspicious because it didn't say anything about being released either or what the bail amount was etc.

It was very intriguing to see that and then I cross referenced that guy on Facebook as well and saw his plethora of Challenger and Mopar pics in general on his profile. He also had public posts pretty much every day until Wednesday and then it just stopped (maybe because he was the one wrongfully arrested)

He also is from the Detroit area and went to high school and goes to college there so that checks out too. And it matched the name that was in the Wayne County jail system.

I guess the only thing that didn't match was Mr Sarge's physical description but there's a lot of coincidences there and he does appear to be middle eastern so maybe he had a hat on too to resemble a bald head? I'm sure it can be tough to see inside the vehicle perfectly when you're going at high speeds and if he had tinted windows etc.

I'm not sure. But I thought you were pretty awesome with your sleuthing as well man. Kudos to you too
Thanks! I was just trying to put all the pieces together in case the police didn't release the innocent person and we needed to contact him but it looks like everything turned out ok.

I'm glad you also seen everything I was seeing, I thought for sure I found the guy on facebook but after texting him last night and the way he was replying, I don't think it was him and that he only had the same name and some other coincidences. Even though he did say it was him, I still felt as though he was just wanting to see what I was talking about and didn't want to bothered after that.

Almost daily now I hear how a dash cam is saving someone's life/career. Definitely time to invest.

Mr. Sarge, thank you.

Great work Mr. Sarge. Any correlation with your user name and being a Sergeant in the military? Also, I wonder where the real culprit with the Scatpack is.

I uploaded it to my google drive and shared that link. In regards to providing it to the authorities, that I actually put onto a USB to provide them a hard copy of the footage.
Many thanks MR.Sarge.

I think I want a dash cam or two (one facing rear and one facing forward)

Glad the R/T owner got the charges dropped
I wonder if they dropped the passing on the shoulder charge he admitted to too.

There are models that have front and rear facing cameras.

Video link below. So glad I got a dash cam.

Yea that's really awesome of you too. I was impressed. I def saw the Wayne County page just like you saw it which is super crazy too with how it suddenly disappeared without even showing anything about a bail out or release. Very fishy indeed.

Haha who knows if that Facebook profile is the same person or not. He looked super young lol, but good for you to take that extra step.

But that's funny that you conversed some with him. In the end. I'm really happy to hear this was followed through to the end with a good resolution. Very very cool of all of y'all on this thread to band together like that for a wrongfully accused, innocent stranger.

Many props for fellow American muscle!
