It was probably limited for bandwidth reasons. It was off of google drive, not something that is set up to handle the demands of a video going viral.

Channel 7 news in the Detroit area did a spot on their 6 p.m. newscast tonight. They slowed it down to a stop but didn't leave it up very long. I'm sure the authorities know who the other car belongs to... of course it could have been stolen Nice job MR. Sarge

I like it when the PoPo gets the right guy. Usually they aren't around to catch them. I just hope they see the evidence and figure it out.

Great work! You did the right thing Mr. Sarge! I told you this guy would try and brush it under the rug. You held your ground and did the right thing! Good karma!*

As an LEO and car enthusiast, I would like you to know Mr. Sarge that your efforts should be commended and that your are a great American! I was disappointed to hear at first the arresting officer didn't want to see your video, but I am extremely happy it ended up working out.

I've been on the fence about buying a dashcam for a while now, but after reading this thread I've made up my mind and am definitely going to purchase one as soon as possible.

Well done, MR.Sarge and the others in this forum for helping keep the R/T driver from taking the fall for the monumentally stupid and reckless actions of the apocalyptic idiot in the Scat Pack, whom I hope doesn't take anyone with him/her if/when he/she runs out of luck...

Major props to Mr. Sarge and all those involved.

I wonder if the owner of that Challenger is going to persue a suit. If it was just a mistaken identity at first okay but the officer didn't even want to see the evidence. If Mr. Sarge hadn't persisted and gotten this story out who knows how bad that guys life would have been ruined. It also seems like he spent the whole time in jail. How long between Mr. Sarge saying he has video proof and the guys actual release went by. Imagine if he got assaulted in prison or worse. Lots of scary stuff comes to mind of what might have happened if not for Mr. Sarge. You might literally have saved that dudes life Mr. Sarge. You are a hero

Great job Mr. Sarge, my hat's off to you. If the person arrested ever contacts you, remind them to pay if forward.

This!

Two things that really piss me off about what happened.

First, the police officer arrested the poor guy with no degree of certainty. It's a completely different model/year Challenger and even has different colored rims. Obviously he didn't get a good look at the one that got away. "Screw it! I'm mad and you're driving a dark colored Challenger, so you'll do."

Second, when offered evidence that was told to him exonerates the guy he arrested, he refused to see it. He made a conscious decision that he would rather obliterate an innocent man's life than own up to a mistake.

Those are the important issues at hand and none of the news stories I've seen are focusing on them.

That IS the big issue. To arrest the wrong person is one thing... it happens. But, the fact is, the officer in pursuit LOST line of sight on his original perp, and still made an arrest based solely on "looks like." Sloppy, but still forgivable.

What is NOT even remotely acceptable is deliberately avoiding proof of innocence. In my book, that is what takes that officer from good guy to bad guy. He crossed that line.
