Smaller displacement engines esp the coyote have worked very well so far for ford....I used to get smoked by them when I had my SS. Ford is appealing to a diff audience this generation.

Sooo what's the problem?
I wonder though how modding that TTV6 would be. I wonder if it is optimized or if it would be able to make that 1000hp that a lot of those guys will be gunning for

Anyone else wondering this?

Isn't that what the automotive enthusiast community was crying about in the early 70's with the price of gas shooting up, and smog controls? Cars were getting smaller and more of them were coming equipped with 4-cylinder engines?

40 years later...

...And I'm really not that upset with how some of these regs are encouraging performance and fuel economy simultaneously.

I've been reading the V6 was chosen to meet a displacement cap for turbo'd engines in certain racing classes. If that was the reason, I can understand it.

Yep, it only led to about 30 years of automobilia that largely sucked before a real recovery picked up. That was in a completely different era where we weren't realistically competing with much of the globe for finite resources.

Love the look but I dont understand the TT6 approach. This isn't a Mustang where they will be selling 5K+ GT's per month. There is no need to meet regs with this low production Halo car so the only reason that makes sense is they want to appeal to a different crown then us older V8 growl crowd. Admit it, we are becoming the older guys with our V8s and Ford is targeting a different group. Unless they are going to come out with a GT "R" version with a V8 later but I doubt it.

With such a big Ford launch today I'm guessing GM is going to let Ford have its day and we will see the Nig Gm reveals, ie Camaro, at a different show.

Class restrictions.

This is a race car that was designed for a very specific class.

Typically Ford designs the race car first and then the street car is derived from that. Happened with the original GT350, Boss 302, GT40 etc.

This^ I will try to find it but one of the releases or magazine bits or something said that the reason for the ecoboost was there was a specific class they wanted it to run in

The 'resources' argument aside, I think we disagree on the 30 years of automobilia that "largely sucked." I happened to enjoy a lot of the performance vehicles from my youth, and many others as well.

I've got no problem with a turbo V6.

One of the most badass muscle cars ever was a turbo V6

I'm sure it will mod just fine. Just like the current 3.5EB, any of the EB's for that matter, and the coyote, for some reason everyone likes to think all the power has been wrung out of them from the factory. I'm not sure where this comes from but they've been proven wrong over and over again.

Yeah and if you tt a v10 the tt v8 will fail miserably. Ever seen the Underground Racing lambos? You can play this game all day, but there is nothing wrong with a tt v6 if it performs.
