I'm sure this will make the Raptor guys happy, seeing that the Ecoboost is supposed to be the new offering to replace the 6.2L. Lots of great things about the new truck, but this is going to piss off its fanbase for sure!

I had a 2012 F150 FX4 with the TT Ecoboost and I traded it in for my SS. The Ecoboost was a powerful engine and the towing capacity of the V6 was higher than the V8. It was a fun engine, and the turbo kick would plant you back in the seat.

The downside was, there was a lag until the turbos kicked in, and there was no easy way to make the engine exhaust sound good.

I am glad I bought a Camaro V8 when I did. I think the current body style is destined to become a classic and we may be seeing the final years of V8s.

If you can afford a GT then it's probably no big deal to pick up a v8 crate and toss it on in. I would think this would be problem solved right?

TTV6 that will have at least 600 hp. The new Z06's SUPERCHARGED V8 is 650...

Sooo what's the problem?

If you grew up a fan of American muscle cars it's a sad realization that we are quickly approaching the zenith. EPA regulations on new cars will bring the end of what we knew and taxation on fuels will eventually force our current crop off the roads. The younger generation has already been indoctrinated with green policy so it's just a matter of time. Drive em while you've got em.

This is what will power the performance car of the future. Its a good and bad thing, in that while we will see better fuel efficiency at the expense of the thrill, sound and feel of the v8. Its a shame that given the advances of technology, that the industry still cannot produce an engine that can replicate the sound of a v8. While some four and six cylinder cars have impressive sound bites, its clearly not the same thrill as the eight's exhaust.

Not a bad design for the Ford GT (and I'm not a Ford fan).

Speaking of sound, you might want to listen to it before you pass judgment.

another GTR fanboy you tt a v8 and a gtr will fail miserably the fact of the matter is if you can throw enough money you can be the fastest kid on the block but I digress

What im trying to say is Ford is moving away from its roots and going towards the imports scene with the smaller displacement turbo engines I think its way too soon especially on their halo car.

I think twin turbo only makes sense if you need to keep displacement low for government regs, or I guess if it somehow gets you a higher EPA rating... Ecoboost for example show decent mpg numbers on the sticker, but most people report real world mileage the same as larger non turbo engines. At least Chevy has been sticking with logic so far. They could have make a more expensive twin turbo 6 that sounds like an appliance with the same mileage as a V8, or they could stick with the "low tech" V8s that are cheaper, more realiable, and a heck of a lot more fun in my opinion.

This. To meet CAFE every year V8's are going to stopped being mass produced and we're going to start seeing Twin Turbo V6's. Get used to it while you can.
