"What's wrong with LOWDOWN?! Has be fallen and cracked his skull?!"

Ford realized their popularly-priced pony car was l-o-n-g overdue to arrive in the 21st Century. Take a look around: NO IRS! Far from industry-leading chassis - structure! Competitive marketplace!

They have fully concentrated on making the BASIC CAR as good as they can make it, considering 1) a mid-$20s starting point; 2) other Corporate objectives...

Adding power, as we've discussed, is something that will happen over the lifecycle of the car. Just as the GT350 will happen. Just as other versions may...

As for introductory performance, we can chide them for not initially giving us MORE-MORE-MORE, and giggle like little girls while we tweak their noses, but...

...as a starting point, they've done a credible job. And "Job One" is f-a-r from done...

Bring the A-GAME, GM!
I agree with you....now I am gonna go shoot myself for it.

And that would go for a vast majority of people in enthusiast forums too. Many do not know how much they don't know about driving and vehicle dynamics until it bites them in the butt.

I am just disappointed that Ford said the Boss was the target, and it appears they have missed. I don't know for 100% sure what was said regarding weight, but the general impression of most everyone was that it was going to be lighter, they missed again.

I am happy it rides better, but quite honestly, my Boss rides just fine too. I see a lot of apologies being made for the car and it amuses me to see people who have called the Camaro a pig because it weighs 3,800 pounds, now excuse the weight because "now we have more features and safety." Now don't think for a minute that I believe the new Camaro will be any lighter than the S550, but really all GM has to do is match the weight and I think Mustang will be playing catch up for quite a while performance wise due to the better torque of the LT1 and the experience they already have invested in the Alpha platform regardless of which one they use under the 6g car.
Agreed. I keep asking myself when the power increases have to stop. All of these cars are too powerful for the street. I mean c'mon 707hp Hellcat. That is just an exercise in restraint all the time.

I've read it on a couple forums and some articles. It was never officially stated by Ford so it might just be an internet rumor.

If it's on the internet it MUST be true.

IIRC it wasn't really a big issue more along the lines of just wasn't ready yet by the time the new 2010 body style came out

You're right about the bottom line being sales, but its quite the opposite in regards to this not being an american icon. All the reviews are still saying it screams mustang and i agree, but Fords plan was to take this thing to next level looks/handling/tech wise and that is what they need in order to sell cars. The average buyer is not on forums researching mods and reviews, they're picking cars based upon how cool it looks and how it rides. Simple as that. Hence the majority of these cars being sold are the V6 models. Ford knows that and thats what they aimed for. The performance will come in due time when its needed. Right now its all about the look and tech. Why the 5th gen camaro was such a huge hit and dont worry, if the 6th gen tries to catch the mustang in tech, its weight is going to balloon as well. The tech on the new mustang rivals that of Audi's and BMW's.

2015 Mustang GT Premium unimpressive

Check this out! I mean Ford seems a couple more steps behind. This car was almost 47K! a GT Premium. This is the 2015 Mustang Gt Road and Track road test results. The 2013's Camaro SS/ 1LE's have better brakes, acceleration, and handling. I'm excited what GM has in store for 2016! What do you think?

This new Mustang is beyond a mess. Looks worse, manages to heavier on top of it. Ford has completely abandoned enthusiast wants in order to make a more mass-market, global car. I'm beyond embarrassed for them at this point. They've abandoned the domestic core consumer in order to sell a few mustangs in Europe, where, let's be honest here, most won't bother with an American car.

Look I'm not all that impressed with the 15 Mustang either...and I don't like its looks.

But its not exactly a horrible car either...its pretty much as fast as the outgoing model (or maybe a tick behind, as other reviews got into the 12s with the car) and it handles better.

That said, its not the OMG WTF JUST HAPPENED car that lots of the Mustang faithful were hoping for. I don't believe the PP equipped GT can handily beat the BOSS or the 1LE in a straight line or the track.

In the end, I feel the 2016 Mustang will definitely take the performance crown. We'll see what Ford has in store for the 2016 or 2017 Mustang, as I'm sure more power and an 8+ speed transmission is coming for that car, as the 2016 Camaro will already have more power, have an 8 speed, and should be the same weight, if not lighter than the Mustang.
