Now for what you've been waiting for: the new 2015 Mustang GT accelerates from 0 to 60 mph in 4.4 seconds, and gallops through the quarter mile in 12.8 seconds at 112.2 mph. That's just a tick slower than the last performance-pack-equipped 2013 Mustang GT we tested. The old S197 model ties the 2015 model in a race to 60 mph and completes the quarter mile a tick faster at 12.7 seconds, with a 111.7 mph trap speed. Big six-piston Brembo front brakes help the new Mustang come to a stop from 60 mph in 107 feet, a yard shorter than the outgoing model.

Not bad for a first run with new suspension/chassis.What impressed me is how well it puts down the power. A6 times should be good also. Times will drop with seat time.

Meh....the 2013-2014's will be in much higher demand now. Lookswise and they wil be better at street/drag racing.

Just felt like I won the lottery with my 2014 5.0, bought it with $4,000 in rebates. The 2015 turned me off with the exterior looks (interior is actually good), now seeing the performance is the same really makes me glad I didn't wait. Didn't realize the weight difference would be near 200 lbs.

Also, WTF is up with the engine bay? Look horrendous now.

You did see where this a fully loaded GT right? Comes in at 3800 lbs and still managed to put in pretty much the same time as the earlier models. Due to the internal changes, this one will react much better with bolt ons.

Basic boltons no....F.I yes..but if you are serious about F.I I would tear out the stock pistons/rods anyways just to be safe. The SLA is still better for the strip.

Road and Track got 4.6 0 -60 and 13.0 second flat 1/4 mile while Motortrend got 4.4 and 12.8. Basically the same or a bit slower than the 2014 model.

This new Mustang, while still quick in a straight line, is more about handling and road feel.

Bring on the test of a PP Mustang versus the 5th gen Camaro 1LE....thats what I want to see. Sure the media will rave about how the Mustang's interior is worlds better, and its easier to see out of, but can it beat a 1LE at the track?? Not sure about that one.

I'm happy to finally see initial reviews coming in.

Well, the Camaro V6 is now slower than the Mustang 4-cylinder.

The tested GT had the Performance Package, adds 6 piston brakes over the 4 piston they come with. Before you had to get the Brembo or Track Package to get 4 piston brakes on the 2013-2014.

Per Car & Driver

2015 Mustang GT
0 to 60: 4.5
1/4 Mile: 13.0

Link to 2015 Review

For reference the 2013 5.0 they tested had the same 0 to 60 time and 1/4 mile was 0.1 second slower.

From the reviews I've been reading it seems the 2015 Mustang is a major let down that it didn't improve in straight line speed. One of the major points of buying a muscle car is see what it can do in the 1/4 mile but yet it's slower than the outgoing one. I would consider that a major fail. And from Motor Trend "So why isn't the new ponycar faster than the old one, or handle as well given its horsepower and torque bump and new suspension? One word: weight. The new Mustang GT weighs in at 3814 pounds, a 196-pound increase over the last similarly equipped Mustang GT we tested. While that extra weight is unnoticeable on the street, it does rear its ugly head during limit handling and performance driving."

lol, Car & Driver praised how well it handled and how much of an improvement it is. "Cornering is now secure and flat, and the grip likely approaches a full 1.00 g with those sticky P Zeros. The new Mustang’s chassis is in total harmony." Just goes to show you how different opinions are. The real tell will be in lap times. I suspect it should be a lot better. Considering straight line acceleration is about the same as the old 5.0, the IRS should seriously aid in handling..
