I'm not saying the stats on this car aren't impressive. I'm not saying it won't perform well. I'm not saying it won't sell well. I'm saying, in my opinion, this car doesn't deserve the Z06 badge. They took all that made the Z06 an awesome car and tossed it out the window.

Clearly, I'm part of a dying minority. People today are more concerned with what gadgets are in the car but I'm not. I guess I'll have to stick with older cars while GM moves away from building cars for people like me.
I was pretty bummed they had moved so far from the heritage myself. But, after some reflection I realized that they had done that with the ZL-1 as well. It left some room for the Z/28 being a very focused car. I wonder if they aren't doing the same with the Corvette line-up...a high-performance all-around two-seater that will have a track-only/focused stablemate later. Time will tell.

That's the part I don't understand. If they did plan on building a super focused track car, they should have made this the ZR1. The previous Z06s weren't super focused like the Z/28 but they were built for the track.

I just hope this Z/28 isn't the last track car GM builds for us. I would like to buy at least one new car in my life haha.

Know what you mean. I've just decided to stop worrying about name plates and worry about the package.

Unfortunately even the Viper is rumored to go with a supercharger.

To make the stupid power that buyers want - forced induction is required.

The LS7 imo was the best of the LS family. But the new laws looming with what the market wants has kind of forced everyones hand. The high strung high hp motors will be race only from here on out.

Compare rarity of the ZL1 to the Z06. There will probably be more ZL1 Camaros than Z06's. It's a 2 seat VS 4 deal...plus another 50% more $.

No way my Z06 will cost 80k.
I have to have the Z07 package, so I'd be looking at about 90k. Still a killer deal for such a beast.

I'm also curious about how many Z06s will be produced for this year, since the dealers I interact with act like they're going to be rarer than hen's teeth. If you can't even really get a Z06, then their pricing is going to get elevated -- which impacts the Z/28 comparison.

In reality, I suspect the cars are so different that few people would cross-shop. The Z/28 is a dinosaur (427 N.A. V-8 + 6-speed manual) that went to finishing school at the Ring (carbon-ceramic brakes, Multimatic suspension). The Z06 is an entirely different animal. I'll be interested to see just how different the lap times are, though I suspect the Z06 will have a suspension and chassis that are the equal of the Z/28 -- plus more power & torque with less weight. Kudos to Chevy for making so many excellent choices for track duty!
Even without the Z07 package I'm very very sure the Z06 will be in a different class than the Z/28.

This Z06 gave up what made the Z06 such an awesome car to chase more sales.

This "Z06" is more along the lines of the ZL1 than a Z06.
They mentioned that they did the removable top because when it was locked in place it was nearly just as rigid as a hardtop.

I doubt it. At that price I would expect a lot of Z06 orders. Everyone seems to be stunned at the price.

They're two very different cars in two different price classes so it is a bad comparison. The ZL1 will still be a better strip car.

Got to see a yellow one and a white one in person yesterday at corvettes at carlisle. They are one of the most bad ass cars I've ever seen. Way nicer than any current Camaro by far. In hearing the price I'm shocked. What a bargain.

Basically you are getting a ZR1 for only a few thousand more than the outgoing Z06.

You get all the upgrades from the C6 to C7 on the interior front, including an honest to goodness steering wheel that isn't derived from a Cobalt wheel.

This is a pretty awesome price and when you consider a 1LT with Z51 package is $58,000(2014 pricing), you are getting 200 HP mare and all the trappings for $20k more.

And when you consider that an Audi RS5 Convertible can easily run you well over $80,000, the Z06 convertible is a steal at $83,000.
