Cool. I just started back into it myself, been sitting on my butt for way to long but thanks to a steroid shot in the shoulder I'm almost pain free and have been gradually working my way back to where I was a few months ago. Seems like an eternity. Getting old sucks. lol.

So, I lurk around here once in a while and was wondering if anyone can offer any good advice for quick results especially around the mid section. I kind of let myself go the last few years. I am 5' 7" and currently I weigh in at 185 but my bmi is around 28 so it is more fat than I would like. For the longest time I was at a nicely toned 150. Life just really got in the way. I was working 12 to 16 hours a day, quit eating right, and don't sleep much anymore. My work load is decreasing to 10 hours a day so I want to get in shape. I would like to be around 175 with a lot less fat. I can't really get to a gym but I do have a Crossbow (always called it a Bowflex knockoff) and some dumbells that range from 10lbs to 50lbs. If you want to just pm me that is cool. Thanks for your input.

I'm just now getting back into the gym after a long hiatus. It's so depressing, and my everything hurts. I was so frustrated yesterday that I actually got angry about it in the gym, and now I'm REALLY sore lol.

Body Fat is 100% what you eat. That's the key, eat lean, healthy stuff, no processed junk, especially fast food. Carbs are terrible, bread, pasta equals fat. Lean meats, chicken, fish, and beef w/tons of veggies!

Exercise does crank up how much you burn, but the wrong fuel will negate any fat loss. Soda is poison, water is the best fat burner.

Sorry, I fixed it. I wish people would stop generalizing carbs into one big lump of "bad". If you stick to whole grains you will be fine. I agree that low carb will accelerate fat loss, but your workout is going to be hindered without a good carbohydrate source of SOME kind. I eat 2 cups of brown rice (one with lunch and one with dinner) and a 1/2 cup of oats (with breakfast) each day, along with all the green veggies I can handle when I'm burning body fat.

I'd like to add a few things as well. Don't forget the healthy fats! You need them. Almonds are my go-to source. And by God, if you're skipping fruits (which I generally do) get a multi-vitamin. I know, it'll make some expensive pee, but your body will get use out of them.

You might also consider a stir-in-water fiber supplement. I don't get enough fiber in my normal diet, so I generally have to resort to using one.

Oh, and do your resistance training before cardio imo. I can drop body fat down to "I can see an ab outline" before I add any serious cardio to my workout at all. But then... I hate cardio

Haven't signed her up yet. Probably Monday....

Funny I sent an email inquiring about it and was told that she has to take the "introductory course" if she has never done "Crossfit" before. I was like WTF she is in shape (and probably stronger than most of the guys there)....still has to do it. I guess they chalk that up to a sign up fee like most traditional gyms....it's $150.00.

yeah I guess it's a safety thing. if people that haven't workout have to do it then everyone does so they don't show special treatment towards others. I had to go through it also. I hope she has a fun time though.

and yeah Brian did you go?
