A lot of armchair quarterbacking going on here geeez. Props to Dodge for finally bringing a dog to the fight. Weather it be at the strip or through some cones they needed something, hopefully this will trickle down to the SRT platform and that car will get on par with it's competitors. The jury is still out for the Hellcat IMO pending price.

The GT500 is a ridiculous product, 707 .. 662 ... Ford actually underrates their cars for whatever reason. Either that or they have the most efficient drivelines ever. Fords aftermarket is unreal, Chevy's Camaro can run there are plenty of TRUE 700+ RWHP ZL1's and SS's running around. And lastly hopefully Dodge learned their lesson with the last SRT and didn't cripple the ECU for programmers. The comparisons to the Viper and C6/7 need to stop, this wasn't the car made to target those.

Well that hp number is all well and good, but the real point of all this is...

It has push button start so you don't have to worry about your key fob design.

Can not wait... 707HP car will be a monster. Dodge may be late but they have created godzilla. As soon as orders can go in my dealership out here said they will order me a B5 blue one. This new manufacture HP war is great

I saw reports last week that the Hellcat turned 10.9 in the quarter mile. The driveSRT website goes into a lot of detail about the cars drivetrain, suspension and electronics. Everything looks heavy duty (tires, brakes, suspension, engine components). Dodge came late to the party, but they through everything they had into this one.

The official weight was published back in May. The Manual Hellcat curb weight is 4,449 and the auto Hellcat curb weight is 4,439.

Regarding the Viper, funny you leave out the part where the all new 2013 Viper GTS that costs $15,000 more, LOST against the 5y/o ZR1 both in a straight-line and around Laguna Seca. In 2008, Dodge set the record at Laguna Seca with a time of 1:33.92 in the Viper ACR.

Half a decade later, GM finally had a Corvette that can compete with the Viper. The ZR1. The ZR1 was marginally faster then the Gen IV Viper ACR with a time of 1:33.70. A win is a win, and the ZR1 was faster then the ACR and the 2013 Viper GTS.

SRT was not pleased with the results. So the TA came into existence, cheaper than the ZR1. (Price as tested for the ZR1 was $125,920. Price as tested for the TA was $116,000.) The TA beat the 2013 ZR1, marginally, but hey, a win is a win and the Viper remains at the top as the fasted production car at Laguna Seca.

And that is just the TA. Imagine how bad the next ACR is going to crush the Z06 with its big aero.

I don't think so. It's an existing chassis, a pushrod engine, screw blower, etc. Unless they do something really trick to it, it's not going to cost a lot to build compared to Mustangs or Camaros.

PS - The Z/28 is not limited per se, it is 1.5 years. They will build as many as there are dealer orders. GM might be gaming the dealers though. Only 1/2 the 2014's have made it to dealers, even though production stopped 6/13.

There are 200+ of them sitting in a field in Canada. And that's just the 2014's. They have been building 2015's for 3 weeks now.

This creates a false demand. If there are 2000 buyers right now, they are fighting over the 200 available units. If there were 1000 available units (possible), dealers wouldn't order as many 2015's.

But it might bite them in the ass. Knowing that my car was built in mid 2014, but delivered with the 2015's, makes me want a 2015 instead. I don't imagine I'm the only one who would rather have a 1 year newer VIN at the same price. Plus, there are often little bugs that are hammered out over the first year of production.

Look at all the improvement Ford did for $5390. 662 HP via TVS blower, launch control, track apps, ect ect

2012 GT500 MSRP was: $49,605
