Dodge gets 1st place on the drag strip, GM gets first place on the track...poor Ford..at least they had a year where they were best at something

The key fob thing is ridiculous though. Wait for all the stories of Hellcats crashed while people try to change the key fob while driving down the freeway...

The Challenger is for drag racing. Fun, comfortable, fast, but a boat in a turn. As with most Dodge muscle cars, it will be outrageously overpriced.

I like the variety. More fun at car shows, and cruising around with friends.

Don't be. Ralph said this about a year ago.

Was at a car show at Chrysler Headquarters about a month ago. There were 2 Hell Cats there, the talk among the Chrysler reps was that this car will probably be 70k +. I guess we will soon find out.

There was no 1988 GN, '86 and '87 were intercooled, rated at less HP than the 'Vette but made more power in reality.

1989 TTA was rated higher than the 'Vette, (250 vs 245) but again it made much more than rated. They can't do that now due to SAE revisions.

My guess is, expect an 800hp+ Viper coming soon.

I think there is more to performance than a straight line or just having the most horse power for the sake of saying it in a commercial or having it in bold in your brochure.. Chevrolet is leading the way out of the American bunch in making all around performance cars.. I want to see this Challenger perform as well as the Z28, ZL1, or 1LE on the track...

This is why no one takes you seriously on this site. You continue to post half-truths and provide zero reference to your statements.

Regarding the Viper, funny you leave out the part where the all new 2013 Viper GTS that costs $15,000 more, LOST against the 5y/o ZR1 both in a straight-line and around Laguna Seca. The Viper team had 5 YEARS to best the Corvette. 5 YEARS. What happened? They introduced the GTS in 2013 only to have it EMBARRASSED by the C6 ZR1 http://www.motortrend.com/roadtests/...srt_viper_gts/

Next they introduced the 2014 Viper TA and FINALLY managed to beat the outgoing, 5/yo C6 ZR1 around Laguna Seca by a whopping 0.08 seconds.

This is why Viper sales are in the tank.

The GT500 still has about a 600 lb weight advantage and is only down 45ish hp. It'll be a drivers race in good conditions.

GM will need to step it up in regards to the ZL1's under 600 HP/TQ numbers.

I agree with your statement but keep in mind a lot of folks that shell out the kind of money that these supercharged cars will command, have no intention to beat them at the track. For me, if I were to buy one of these - it would also have to be my daily driver and I am not looking to increase any wear and tear on it. Stop light to stop light and Hwy cruising is fine by me....and in this case, the Hellcat just became a consideration.

Those rear tires look a little narrow to handle all that power.

Should make the Mopar crowd happy to be #1 again.

With about 60,000 Challengers sold in a year I figure maybe 3,000 or less of these will see the streets.

I agree with you.. My SS gets about 10,000 - 12,000 miles a year..no excessive wear and tear... I want a ZL1 for the power but it will never see the track.. But I like the fact that it can hit the track if I ever wanted to.. That's what I love about Chevrolet..
