First gen Colorado doesn't really ride too great in any configuration...at least my 2006 crew cab Z71 4x4 doesn't. Its not horrible, but not nearly like a fullsize rides.

I'm expecting a huge difference with these new midsizers.

Yeah but the sport truck ZQ8 is especially bad. I kinda noticed it when I test drove it but it's wore on me over the years. I'm ready for something new.

This is an old Motortrend article but I guess I missed it before. I like the part at the end where Mark Reuss says that an LT1 will fit in the Colorado. http://blogs.motortrend.com/1403_201...e_kiinote.html

Hmmmm that sounds like a good idea! Would be sick!

And what about an SS version with the Corvette's LT1 V-8? "It'll fit," says Reuss with a smile. He knows, it seems, that the Colorado is poised for the pinnacle.

It would be an awesome truck but I don't think I could buy an LT1 and not have a Camaro around it.

That would be a tough one. Either way they will be getting my money so it's a win for GM.

I think it would very cool to see GMC & Chevrolet go two completely different routes with special performance versions of their midsize trucks.

Make one a street truck with the twin turbo V6 (call it either an SS or Syclone, as appropriate). Give it a lowered stance, sportier wheel & tire combo, more aggressive fascia, standard hard tonneau cover, etc.

The other would done up in the pre-runner style. Give it the 6.2 (at least as an option over the regular V6), an off-road suspension (including a lift), bigger & more aggressive tires, maybe tweak the front fascia so that it doesn't hang down as far, and so on.

Each would be pretty awesome in their own right, and easily be the sportiest truck of their kind you can get from the factory. Doing both (but each for a different brand) would be a neat way to try and further differentiate GMC from Chevrolet. Things like the axles and transmission could very easily be shared, while elements like the front fascia would need to be different anyway so there isn't added cost in going two different routes.

And now that I've thought all this through ... I come to the sad realization that GM will probably never do such a thing, no matter how great it would be.

That would be awesome. I know some people think its dumb, but I like sport trucks. Problem is, I'd need another truck so i can do.....real truck stuff with it lol.

I'd buy a pre-runner style the day they came out!

I think it would be very cool to know what the MPG's are going to be so I don't waste time trying to convince my wife that this would be better than a full size....
