Got you beat. When I was in college, to the local PD a student sticker = $$$. My sophmore year, I got, fought in court and had to pay a ticket for 36 in a 35. 1 mph over the limit. The fine was something like $5 and "court fees" $155.

The whole town was nothing but one big racket. Local authorities (Judge, DA, city council etc) were all elected and knew very few of us students were registered to vote locally, so they used us to fill the city coffers. If they did to the locals what they did to us, they all be kicked to the curb in short order...

And for all or resident officers talking about writing warnings, where have you guys been the times I've been (deservedly) pulled over. I'm always polite and have all my info ready and waiting and not once have I ever been given a break.

i got pulled over 3 times already and i had my car for only 2 weeks today!!!!!!!! i got 2 seatbelt tickets and a verbal warning instead of
going 42 in a 25 (seatbelt)
53 in a 40 (Seatbelt)
and 59 in a 40 (verbal warning)

they all asked questions about the car and loved it .. i even got a " what you got under the hood?" from the last cop.. which was a leutenant ... all these were in different towns in nj
so yes cops love the car !!!

Yanno, it's nice to see some of the Nation's Finest, expressing some realistic viws about being an Officer of the law.

What saddens me the most is when a select few spoil that.

My family and I had lived in a small town in another state. One night for no reason what-so-ever, an officer followed my wife home into our driveway for no reason. This was very upsetting. If you knew my wife, you would know she is as straight an arrow as they can be.

These same officers also had developed a pattern of blatant intimidation to other members of my family.

I fully respect the Officers who conduct their business with respect and honor to the general public. No issues there. You are to be commended.

It's just the bad apples that ruin it for the others. (just like in virually any profession.)

I have a personal policy that I follow for ME. If I am in violation of a specific law, I WILL NOT write anyone for that particular violation. ie.. If my seatbelt is not on, I will not write the poor sap I just stopped for not wearing his. If my tags are expired, everyone gets a free pass on their tags until I get mine taken care of. Which leads me to .... I will not put the front tag on my camaro.... no more front tag tickets from me for as long as i have this dream machine!!!

Ihave not pulled a '10 Camaro over yet, but I have been pulled over in mine!!
Great policy to live by...

Not to disrespect you in any way, but is there any chance you can re-write this so we can understand what you're saying? For a 22year old, you write terribly. From what I understand, you don't like cops because they mess with you and repeatedly ask you the same questions over and over. Do you talk like you write? That may be part of it. If the officer is a dick, well, there are all kinds of different people out there. Not all officers are dicks. But then again, if I feel like you're being a dick to me, or arguing with me by cutting me off mid sentence, your attitude will adjust mine & I will give you shit right back. So, please, re-write this with legible/intelligible English so we can properly respond. Thanks bud.

Hylton I have plenty of cop friends and I have to say that the system has gone wacko. We need cops to be solving murders, looking for child molesters, kiddy porn and organized crime, not giving out tickets because you have no front plate.

Absolute joke - and to think police departments always cry about having no funding or going over budget. What a waste of taxpayers money....most cops will agree to what I've said as well, it's not them who give out the marching orders.
Hylton, I have a ton of respect for you and the advise that you give, however I have to disagree with you. I am not a "traffic cop" and I perfer to look for the "bad guys". Nobody likes getting pulled over when they break the law, myself included. Things like this happen all the time:

http://news.yahoo.com/s/ap/us_wrong_way_crash

The only way law enforcement has a chance to prevent this is to pull people over for traffic violations.

If we didn't issue traffic citations you couldn't drive on the road without being in fear for you life, because of the way people would drive. You guys see all the time, people driving with their heads up their brown eye.

Of course, now you guys are gonna start in on the well, I see you "cops" doing all the time. Like I said in my post earlier, untill you've been there you wont understand. I will still go above the speed limit, if I think that the extra minutes I save will make a difference to someone's life or safety.

I did and went to the Chief of Police to handle this type of stuff. It stopped after that.

Like I said, I have the ultimate respect for our Law Enforcement Officers. Its the bad apples that get under my skin.
