We Passed our Testing!!

Well probably not that big of a deal but Kathie, Zac and I are taking Tae Kwon Do and we just passed to our orange belts. When I was a kid I took from age 10 until 16 and was 2nd degree brown belt, 1 step away from 1st degree black belt. But found a girl friend and work blew that all to heck.

They just opened up a school here in town and I am trading the instructor web site design and helping the kids with their classes in exchange for instruction for Zac, Kathie and I. Zac is really digging it and does not want to even do soccer or basketball this next year and do this instead. Kathie and I are doing it to lose wieght, get in shape and just something else to take our minds for a couple hours a night off all our issues with Steph and things.

So just thought I would let you all know.

That is really cool. I wish they had that where I live. Here they just stick a 357 in your hand when your 10 years old.

that roundhouse kick is a killer on the hips, especially the korean version of it where you snap the leg like a whip

The purpose of training is not to have combat but to have skills, discipline and fitness. Not just to kick ass.

kewl Scott, My kids take Tang soo Doo which is a similar style. My son is currently 3 tests away from from his black belt, & hes beein in it for 5yrs .

I trained Karate for 5+ years, but our kicks where taken from Tae Kwon Do. Let me tell you, TKD has some pretty gnarly kicks that do some real damage. It's always nice to kick some butt, but only if it is necessary. Although it seems like martial arts have become more popular since the UFC got more popular. If Zac is enjoying it now, just wait until you get to the more advanced stuff.

getting kids involved in this stuff is great, they dont only learn how to defend themselves if it comes down to it, but they also builds selfesteem.

CCF was so close to pulling the plug on his life when we got him involved in our style of Martial arts. with in a few months he was the happy kid of course due to other stuff he was kicked out for a couple months but he straighted up & started doing things right.

THis kid went from every time you raised your hand to him, he coward, now he stand tall to you & dare you to strike him lol.
