I know I shouldn't talk 'cause I'm a stubborn P&*%k myself but you've gotta take it easy and get well.

Speaking of injuries I have cubital tunnel syndrome in both elbows. There's a nerve that runs down the outside of the elbow and this become inflamed. I sleep with my arms in like a T-rex and this pull on the tendon makes my ring finger and pinky finger go number all the way down my elbows in a straight line. It's like 1/2 of 1/2 my arms has fallen alseep. Worse feeling ever. Good news it is Chest day!

Man, wait till you guys are my age. lol All those injuries add up. I'm actually pretty lucky, other than all the broken bones from my motorcycle crash years ago and the two hernia operations my injuries of late have been limited to some nasty cuts but they heal fairly easily in comparison.

so I check in on this thread pretty regularly, and I go to the gym pretty regularly, but it seems i'm the only one here who was super skinny all his life and is now trying to stay dedicated to the gym just to maintain a relative level of fitness. not interested in getting huge. stronger and more defined is more my aim. every once in a while, i hit a setback with work or injury and I'm out for a month or two. then it seems like it takes forever to get back what little strength i've gained. anyways, i enjoy the read and thought i'd check in. happy new year, everyone!

From what you're describing I don't think you will ever get huge even with the use of steroids or growth hormones. Genetics have a lot to do with it but you can, with hard work and good nutrition, reach your goals, they sound very realistic. I would get a good solid nutrition plan and a program such as a 5x5 that is geared toward maximizing strength with the use of full body lifts such as squats, deadlifts, bench presses, rows etc, focusing on isolation lifts I don't think will produce the results that full body lifts will. It is a gradual process so stay focused on your goals and it will come.

49 years young and go to the gym every day. Do free weights, run and crossfit. A few years ago started doing warrior runs to see if I could still do the Marine I still do the Marine obstacle. course as I was in the corps for 6 years. I continue to finish in the top 2% of the races I run with my team. I feel great and have been told I don't look like I'm 49 and have the body of someone half my age.

Monique did 245 squat, 165 bench, 295 deadlift. Nothing major..she was the only woman competing.

I had decided to lift yesterday. Thought it would be a good way to test my body. Then I strained my calf :( but I decided to bench anyway even though the leg drive wouldn't be there.

Then my ex wife got the call from the doc. After going through chemo and radiation and beating breast cancer she now has cancer in her lungs.

Remember the discussion we had about the mind? Well physically I'm capable of much more, but yesterday I wasn't. Felt like I was kicked in the nutsack. And I knew there was something up. Tracie and I have always been connected and about 2 weeks ago I had an incredible feeling of sadness come over me regarding her. And it was just out of the blue the feeling swept over me.

Anyway weighed in at a hefty, holiday filled 217 lbs. Only managed 385. Got beat out for the free membership by 1% by a guy who weighed 194 and did 345 lbs.

Yesterday just sucked....

Sorry to hear about your ex, that just sucks. She beat that evil disease before, hope she can do it again

Perhaps you didn't lift your best but considering the emotional issues and fighting off injuries you gave it your best and that's what counts the most, most people would just say f&^%k it and not even try.

Monique is almost lifting what I lift, now I feel like crap, thanks a lot. LOL

Ordered and just received one of these for my hubby. He will try it out this week, and I'll probably try it out as well. I'm up to 20 push-ups, was at 25 before my back surgery, so I've slowly been getting back into shape. Let you know how much hubby increases his bench press w/the Slingshot.

I used to weigh 119lbs a few years back. I now step on stage at over 165lbs at 3%. I'm about 210 in the offseason. I you count macros and eat enough your body adapts to the load you place on it.

It's great for pushups as well. Gives you a good pop at the bottom of the motion. Tell him to try it with a lighter weight first to get used to the pull in on the elbows. If he turns out not to like it I'll gladly buy it from you. Mine is beginning to wear after a bit. Did you get him the black multi ply one or the regular single ply? I'm sure he will tho! I personally loved that thing!
