What if the Mustang had the same torque? What if both cars had the same power, weight, drag, gearing and tires?!

I race my buddy all the time....2011 mustang 5.0 m6 with the track pack..373 gears with brembos on the front..he has borla cat back with airaid cai. Closed road of course...this is how it goes in real life. Hes a good driver. From a dig in m mode I pull 1 car length..when he shifts into second he pulls past me by a car length.early into third he still pulls until just before fourth we even out..i cant catch him ..hes not pulling. From a 20 roll with me still I m mode its almost the same result. These cars have very bad wheel hop. Now from a dig with me using the paddles....again I pull a length right away, we shift in second hes half way up my passengers door put hes not gaining. my car holds him off until we go into 3rd now he creeps up even into 4th and he pulls ahead. These cars pull hard with the 373 gears..ive not raced one that doesn't have the track pack..he even agrees its a better race with me tapshifting..even from a 20 roll tapshifting its almost the same result. I have magnaflow competition exhaust with solo hi flow cats and k@n typhoon cai. Keep in mind these races don't happen at the track but on a new road that's not open to public traffic, sometimes traction is a problem.....but its to much fun to complain

5.0's are overrated.

Here's a 5.0(intake/tune/axelaback on NT05R drag radials) versus vs Camaro5 member shiznight84. All he has is a hypertech tuner....

Fast forward to :31 seconds for direct race.

The Brembo package, was no track pack until 13 I believe, has nothing to do with straightline performance. You can get the 3.73 gears on any manual 5.0...........

^ this.

I can speak from experience since I own both. The 6.2 pulls a lot harder from the dig, but once they start moving the 5.0 really shines. Both great engines in their own way.

they really are a drivers race. mustang guys make it sound like they just destroy a 5th gen. but that isn't the case. the 5.0's I ran into sure didn't run like the ones in the internet.

the mustang I race has the brembo brake package which the 373 gears..its not a track pack that's true...he selected the 373 gears as an option with that package..im not sure how many mustangs are running around with 373 gears.

Especially with those stock wheels you have.

Yup, he sure did.

My 100% bone stock 5.0 (3.31/stick) chirps 4th even if I short shift it.

Seeing how the SS has similar power-to-weight ratios, don't they do the same?
Chirping gears has to be the dumbest way to compare performance. I chirped 4th in my 07 Shelby GT with boltons and 4.10s which is still a bit slower than a stock 5.0. It all comes down to the skinny tires Mustangs have for some retarded reason.

When my 5.0 was bone stock down to the tires, I raced a modded 10 Camaro M6 at the track multiple times. He just knew he would walk all over me. He kept reminding me of it too. He had full exhaust headers back, CAI, no tune, not sure what tire he was running but it wasn't a stock tire. All night the best he could do was 8.6. Mainly he stayed in the 8.7-8.8 range. I was running consistent 8.2 had a few odd ball 8.3's. My 60's were between 1.9-2.0. his 60ft was between 2.0-2.1. He wasn't a happy camper.

IMO if the 5.0 has a average to decent driver it will beat the Camaro in stock form. If the 5.0 has a bad driver the Camaro should beat the 5.0 even if the Camaro has a poor driver. the 5.0's are a lot harder to hook up then the Camaro IMO.

Are the 5.0s overrated or is the weight dropped from the mufflers being gone making that much of a difference needed to out run a 5.0?
It probably was a V6 with 5.0 emblems on it.
