2011 Mustang 5.0 overrated?
Last night I ran into a 5.0, and he actually got a jump on me from a dig because I wasn't paying attention. My SS was still able to pull in him and pass him and continue to pull away. I have experienced this more then once as well. All I have on my SS is a Magnaflow Competition exhaust. Are the 5.0s overrated or is the weight dropped from the mufflers being gone making that much of a difference needed to out run a 5.0?

You beat the driver not the car....5.0's are faster than SS from 2011 in stock form.

My friend's ran a 12.5@113 completely stock. They are definitely faster but the engine hype is only good in stock and light mod form. The stock 5.0 is fragile when you start making power. His blew up at 620 with a vortech, tuned and built by JMS. Fried #8. Great heads though.

They are when it comes to looks . A black one parked next to me at a friends party.
Made my car look good. Now I have read car rags saying the 5.0 run 12.7 to 13.2 The SS Ls3 12.9 to 13.1 so it should be a drivers race with edge 5.0 ? I would think.

Mustang track pack cars would run 12.7. 1LE also ran a 12.7 in a motortrend review.

Theres a big hype around them but its because the Ford guys are really happy about it, with good reasons. They should be a bit faster than the Camaro in a straight line, all things beeing equal. There was that Evolution Mustang running crazy times and Ford guys were believing it was stock weight or so..more than 500lbs weight reduction...This vid was their new religion.
