The year the G8 hit the market (2008) coincided with the highest average fuel prices ever recorded in the U.S. GM was headed into bankruptcy and the entire economy was headed into recession. 2008/2009 were not only the worst years for GM on record but the entire auto industry was being hurt by the recession and collapse of the housing market. Pontiac sold 15,000 in 2008 (Mar-Dec) and 23,000 in 2009. Chevrolet plans to sell 1/4 of this. |

Big difference is that the G8 was on lots for people to see, touch, and drive before their decision. The G8 only sold 15K units in 2008 in a time before the recession had hit fully. When you add the two years you get a measly 28K units. How did other car manufacturers do during this time? At almost 50K with TTL, GG Tax you are pushing right up similarly loaded 3 and 5 series BMW. Im not saying that this car is awful, in contrary I think its far from that. It just needed to start at 39,900 putting this car at about 43K after GG tax and TTL. |

To much money. Damn anything decent now-a-days equals a $650 a month car payment

Since Pontiac sales averaged only 1/6 of what Chevrolet sold each year: 2,000 X 6 = 12,000 SS. More than enough. You can't limit Chevrolet to what the Pontiac brand could achieve. |

R/T: 0-60 in 5.3, 13.8 1/4mile at 103mph, $36,995 SS: 0-60 in 4.5, 12.9 1/4mile at 111mph, $45,770 SRT8: 0-60 in 4.2, 12.6 1/4mile at 114mph $47,475 As I've said all along, slightly less than SRT performance for slightly less money. The SS is nearly a full second faster than the R/T and offers a better overall package than the SRT. |
