Aside from a replacement vin, I would probably advise you to steer clear of it. First and foremost I think it wouldn't do good things to the value having a replacement vin.
My car TA is out of state titled, and I have to take it into the BMV for them to look at the vin and match it to the title. |

Did the shop really remove the VIN plate? or did they remove the body tag, which also has the VIN? I have a classic car that has a VIN tag on the dash, and the body tag on the cowl

Now for the vin and the other plate. My Trans Am has a VIN on the dash, bottom of the windshield. It also has a cowl tag with a partial vin on the cowl. My dad's corvette has a Vin on the on the pillar, and a tag in the door jam too. In reality it doesn't really matter if you don't have a cowl tag. Sure, it isn't going to be worth as much, but it's not really considered crucial. What you need is the whole vin in it's factory location. |

It's not really a bare bone project car. It runs, it looks good, it just needs some work. I'm going to call the DMV tomorrow and see what our options are. I'm hoping up flying is correct about his info. The car does not have a vin on the dash or windshield. It had one on the left door hinge pillar, but it was removed during a paint job. |

Oh, it's my '70. Not even a Ford. It would be mere chance if the two tags were in the same spot as mine

Alright guys. I drove out to see the car again with my dad today. Needless to say, we're in love with this car.
I crawled under the car to see if I could see any numbers, but couldn't finagle my way to see the top of the frame due to the car being so low. We're going to call the DMV first thing tomorrow to see what they can do. Quote:

Betcha there's a forum that caters just to Edsels, too. Join up! I joined here two years before I bought my camaro, lol

As much as I hate to say it.. There really is no active Edsel forum due to there being such a low number of them left.
I figured I'd have a better chance asking on C5 than an abandoned Edsel forum. |

There's only a fraction of the total number of Edsels produced that survived to this day. Maybe around 10k or so.

Got any pictures of this?
Hope it all works out for you. The sounds like a really interesting project. You would certainly have something no one else would have at the car shows.
