How many nut cases or criminals actuall goe through the background check and registration processes already in place? I dont thnk....ANY! So what in the world would any more laws on top of the hundreds already in place would have ANY effect on the ones commiting crimes w/guns have? And at the same time as the school shooting, a nut in China attacked a grade school and killed/wound nearly as many.....do we outlaw all knives? Cars kill thousands of times more each year....(and some are scary black looking ones!!!) outlaw them? How about cigarettes. Kill 500,000 a year in the US alone...."If we save even ONE life, its worth it" (quote from lawmaker wanting to outlaw guns) then why do we tolerate something that kills 1/2 MILLION people a year here? Get a grip. Criminals are criminals because they ignore the laws we have already, and more die from stabbing each year than gunshout...so why is a knife less of a danger?

OK, back to the OP's subject. The guy killed was a scum that would keep robbing, etc (and who knows who he would kill in his crimes) and is gone. One less dirt bag to be coddeled by our legal system and let free to commit crimes again so huurah for the end result, but the shooter broke the law and that is a fact. Lets see what the outcome is.

What happend to the days I grew up in....we got a .22 at age 7-8 years old, We HAD to attend hunters/gun safety classes. We brough our guns to school as kids as we had to hunt after school to put food on the table (and fish), none of us ever shot any one......the principal allowed guns for hunter safety in the school, we had no "accidenltly shot someone cleaning his gun" as we were taught to always treat every gun as it was loaded. Check twice to see if it is, never point a gun at any one, alwys point down and away, NEVER pull a trigger unless aiming and firing at a target or game.

How the heck do people "accidently shoot some one"? Guns dont just go off, some idiot picks it up , points it at someone, has to have the safety off, a round in the chamber, and pull the trigger. How is that an accident?

Put some freaking responsibility and common sense back into this country and get our act together people.

Pot has never killed a single person,(unless they ate to much pizza from the munchies) yet we fill our prisons w/pot smokers yet let dangerous criminals go free right and left to repeat crimes again.

Rant done.

Me and a neighbor had a discussion similar to this, as there are currently people breaking into homes here in our subdivision as of late. We both agreed that if people actually stood up and protected themselves it would deter more of these would be jack (insert bad word)

A grocery store was robbed here last yr, an employee hot and killed the guy (This wasn't his first or second time ether). His mom is currently suing the shooter who was not charged. Ridiculous

As for the OP's question:
I carry whenever and wherever I can; my 1st "reaction" would be to shoot to kill. With that said, I'd have to be in the position to see what I would actually do.

I fully support the actions of the shooter!
Good for you man. Another one that tells it like it is.
I'm glad the trash got taken out. Someone works hard for their things and then some punk thinks he's above everyone else and wants to steal because he needs the drug money or wants to joy ride? No way man.

Also as an FYI if somebody breaks into my dump while I'm at home, they'd better watch out for the bayonet, let alone the rifle I'll have in my hands. But that doesn't mean somebody who wants my TV also wants to kill me. There's no correlation there; one doesn't prove the other. If I see the guy running across the street with my TV I am not a licensed executioner. I respectfully recommend that you know your legal risk before you start chasing a burglar down with the intent of killing him in the street. You may find yourself being accused of a serious crime.
The bayonet eh? I always wondered how much elbow room the law would give a home owner when it comes to defense. I'd imagine flamethrowers and grenades would be out of the question just on principal and reasons for collateral damage.

I prefer dogs. They act as a deterrent and your own Marine Force if somebody is dumb enough to come on in. They do have drawbacks though.

I'd have shot him, called 911, had him revived so I could shoot him again.

I can't stop listening to them when I drive. The recordings are awful but I never get tired of that band.

My mother had a GS named Max that was a gift from my grandfather. He was specially trained to be a guard dog. Everybody should have one. They let you know somebody is coming before they get there.

In my experience, there are three kinds of dogs. One kind will aggressively defend the homestead against intruders. One kind will passively lay on the couch doing nothing and watch an intruder carry the house away. The third kind would be content to be one of the items that gets stolen.

The latter two are much less likely to defend the house than an owner's gun. The first kind is much more likely to attack an innocent person or one of the owner's own kids than a law-abiding person's gun is to shoot one.

As long as this thread is not closed yet...

As long as this thread is still open, I want to mention I do NOT ENDORSE that Jim Carrey video that came out recently.

If you can "rise above" that video, you should be able to see that what Jim Carrey is doing, is provoking gun owners on purpose. (and he is being obnoxious).

His goal obviously was to do two things: Mock someone directly to their face (which he did). Put what he really wants, is to see if his actions lead to some kind of chaos, or conflict.

I am very surprised he would make a video like that. But I also wonder if someone "higher up than him", was involved with that video.

For reference, I am talking about this video: http://www.funnyordie.com/videos/043...ith-jim-carrey

They sure dog owners when their pets attack someone! Why not sue the PARENTS for their inability to raise a person that can life in society without being a thief or criminal??

Shoot at a tire? SERIOUSLY?? Do you think he wouldn't have kept driving? The keys words are "I FEARED FOR MY LIFE!" Don't say anything else to law enforcement until you speak to your attorney.
If and when you pull a weapon on someone ALL doubt about the seriousness of the situation is OVER. Your not playing! Shooting at someone to disarm them or stop them is b.s. and you've been watching to many latenight crime dramas. I shoot for the largest target and the threat is going down....
AS for shooting someone for stealing my car, Yes! I would. Had my rims and tires stolen 3 months ago and it won't happen again, thats for sure. Texas law states you can use DEADLY force when you feel that property will be lost without the opportunity to recover it.
If your stealing a car or something off of it, its as bad as breaking into someones home.

You are doing the same thing every time you post in this thread. You're no different than Jimmy except he'll reach a larger audience. Oh wait, you just helped him reach more. Nice slick move to press more of your nonsense on us.
