The Vette was pulling on the GT500 when he was at the top of a gear then when he was at the bottom of a gear the GT500 was at the top of his gear and pulling and then again the roles got reversed. It would really depend on where the finish line would be to declare a winner. Really close race but still the GT500 had WAY more power. This is why C6ZO6's can embarass 5th gens with 550RWHP. C6ZO6's will probably go down as one of the greatest of all time.

As far as the OP's question sure there are probably some 500RWHP 05-09 GT500's that beat a C6ZO6 but I bet allmost anything they beat the driver not the car. Big difference.
The speed at the start of the race favored the Z06. By the end of the race both cars were a dead heat but the mustang had reeled in the Z06 a bit. However you interpret this race, it was very close... Ive driven a Z06 and agree that it could be one of the best cars ever made for the money...
