Why is what snowvert said deserving of an eye roll?

From everyone I've talked to, as well as reviews the BRZ/Twin are fantastic little cars. MotorTrend ranked it higher than the ZL1 and the GT500. They're supposed to be really well dialed in, and for the price, I'd imagine it's difficult to match the fun they provide in a new car.

I'd like to drive one to see what the hype is all about, much in the same way I'd LOVE to drive a ZL1/1LE/Boss.

i am not trying to dig on your car, infact i am glad you like it. you hinted at not being able to compare the brz to a camaro and thats true. neither are sports car, both are coupes....camaro is a pony car, just a tad overweight nowadays. dont think i would even consider the brz a sports coupe...i would put it on same level as the mazda roadster...but better looking. fun cars!

reviews and magazines and tv shows all have wheels to be greased, they are not unbiased and infact several are highly biased and dont try to hide it. like that certain mag that does the big 10 best everyyear with the same car in top 4-5 for 3 decades.

BRZ/FRS is the modern re-incarnation of the Datsun 240Z.
It's a future cult car.

I know you do but it is a shame you cannot pick up a review in a magazine and read it and take it for face value anymore.
I don't think it's fair to say that consumer reports has bought reviews. If you actually look at their stringent review process they are one of the few review places with a long history of editorial independence

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Consume...l_independence

You might not agree with their findings but they really aren't influenced by advertising since they accept none. Unlike most other review mags and websites.

Most of their car reviews focus on reliability over performance features and in that category have the data from their readers to backup their claims. Not surprising they picked a suby when you take that under consideration. Like someone else said bang for the buck.

You may be correct wrong term there.

CR is one of the most biased sources around when it comes to cars. They tilted their hand years ago when they gave the Pontiac Vibe a bad rating, and the identical Toyota Matrix a good rating.

To be fair, though, the BRZ/FR-S twins are a very good sports car. I drove one last summer, and it was pure driving pleasure if you can live without ultra high horsepower. Clutch, shifter, brakes, steering, handling,....every driver's car box was checked.

Ok, as much as you want to claim they don't know cars..................they do. They just don't look at cars the way Camaro enthusiasts do. They evaluate cars based on "regular" people. Those things are around usability, trunk space, features etc.

Go back and look at the "bitch list" from this very website. Poor trunk, poor visibility, plastic interior, poor storage, poor cup holder location relative to the shifter, poor rear seats, on and on........ That's how they look at cars. They don't let the passion of a Camaro, for example, over shadow the basics.

To get a CR Recommended Buy, covetted by all OEMs, you must have 3 things:

1 - basic safety equipment from their list.

2 - Better than average reliabilty from the survey (keep in mind you don't have to own one to rate one)

3 - Good rating for perforamance as evaluated by the magazine

Not saying it's awesome, but you have to understand the perspective. It took me a lonnnnnggggggg time to come to grips with it.

Technically they claimed it was to be inspired by the AE86 (80's RWD Carolla). The 370Z is the current descendent of the 240Z.

The Z cars have processed from the 240Z to the 260Z, then 280Z/ZX, then 300Z, followed by 350Z and 370Z.

The original BRZ/FRS prototype was referred to as the FR86.

No one can deny though Subaru builds some long lasting vehicles. I believe I saw the first Subaru ever built on the road the other day. Those vehicles last and last then yet again they keep on lasting. Should of named the company Timex.

Now this is going back a few years, but my brother-in-law's Scooby Doo was parked beside my Buick during a hail storm. No dents on my Buick. His Scooby Doo was riddled with dents.

Absolutely agree which to an enthusiast can be misconstrued as ignorance. The very things we love about the Camaro generally speaking are the things that make it impractical for most.

.
Same thing happened when Chevrolet had the Toyota Corrolla based Nova. They gave the Toyota a higher rating than the Nova in reliability. I mentioned that to one of my CR quoting friends at work and he said this, " Toyota holds the best parts for their version and puts the ones they reject on the Chevy version....."
I said I am sure they inspect every part of every car before assembly and determine which goes on the Toyota and which goes on the Chevy...
