Someone who buys a $50,000 2 seat sports car usually doesn't give a damn about fuel economy. I can understand avoiding the gas guzzler tax and meeting EPA standards but don't try to make it like they've done this for the customer.
Very disappointed to see a vette with AFM

I thought the driving mode selector affected how often AFM kicks in? (like Eco is pretty much all the time and Sport/Track are much much less?) If correct, that would be great for city driving. On the highway, I wouldn't mind. I've driven my fathers L99 on the highway and didn't notice a thing with the stock exhaust. From what I understood from the reveal and all the tech, is that they are taking the vacuum-valve-exhaust idea beyond just dual-mode and using it to cancel out AFM drone too.

Maybe I understood it wrong, but I hope that's the case.

If the new drive selector module allows the driver to turn off AFM then that would be a huge plus so owners won't have to opt on a warranty-voiding aftermarket tune.

I'm hoping so... I seriously doubt they would let AFM kick in "Track Mode" if it's so dedicated to racing as they said that mode is. Of course, that would mean living with the stiffer suspension of that mode too. We know the mode selector affects AFM, but how much? idk. Would love to see more specifics on the mode selector.

The biggest problem with the new Vette is that it's not in my dang garage.

The biggest problem with the new Corvette is I can't afford it - so none of you will will have the pleasure of seeing my gorgeous face behind the steering wheel.

I saw somewhere it was mentioned that don't be surprised if in Eco mode the new Corvette has a 30mpg highway rating...which could be a deciding factor to some people. Really 450hp and 400ftlbs torque available along with 30mpg... It's the best of both worlds!

Your sig is awesome!

Then keep it in 6th, or 5th, or 4th

Chances are....the sound of the V8 would be minimal at best at those speeds. My bets are on a dramatically-improved sound-barrier to reduce road noise........

But point taken...It'll be something we need to get used to...easy enough technology to implement, with big dividends in mpg...

With an interior like it has; I doubt I will miss the sound. It will be taxing to pay attention to the road and not all the little buttons and gizmos that could get me in trouble.

When the Boss 302 mustang came out with the track key, didn't it have to be EPA certified before use? In other words, wouldn't a module allowing corvette owners to turn off AFM hurt GM's CAFE scores?

If companies with "Eco" modes are allowed to EPA test with those programs activated, dunno why Corvette would be penalized for shutting them off it, say, "Sport", or "Track" mode....
