So you do this intentionally. It's not that you CAN'T have a mag in with the safety on. Is this right? |

My understanding is that it was designed so that a soldier wouldn't pick his rifle up in the fire position, only to dry fire it. It's really a personal preference, and not any less safe. Correct. |

My thoughts as well. No reason to put tension on the hammer if I'm going to need to charge it anyway.

Alright. Confusion cleared up. I really read that to mean that for some strange reason, your rifles were incapable of having a mag in and being on safe, which would obviously make someone very confused.

In Ohio I can't have a loaded magazine if I don't have my concealed carry. It is considered a loaded firearm whether its in my hand or in my trunk.

We're all talking about in our homes I think. I don't have mine loaded when I take it to the range. Magazines empty, and ammo in a separate storage container than the gun.

It's amazing that schools spend all kinds of money and time to make sure our schools are fire proof, including running fire drills, but adding security is somehow paranoid. We have no problem having armed guards protect our banks, sporting events or public officials, but heaven forbid we use them to protect our children. |
